Edinburgh Rugby Supporters Newsletter #1

Dear Edinburgh Supporter,

Well, Edinburgh's first home game resulted in a cracking win against The Borders the other week, and a magnificent last-gasp victory against Leinster on Friday night leaves Edinburgh lying second in the league, with the mouth-watering prospect of a top-of-the-table clash against undefeated Llanelli on October 10th.

Borders Match Report: http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=viewreport.php?id=4
Leinster Match Report: http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=viewreport.php?id=15

Before that however, attention shifts to the Celtic Cup. Our next home game on Saturday 4th October is vital, as a win against Cardiff will put us in the semi-final. Of course, there's also the little matter of gaining revenge for what happened the last time Cardiff came to town, which I'm sure we all remember, even if we'd rather not..... :)

So please come along and support Todd's Young Guns in their quest for Glory! (and Revenge).

Remember, this vital match is an additional match that wasn't planned as part of the fixture list at the beginning of the year. Consequently, your season ticket is not valid for this game.

---------- Clubroom ----------
At our last home game many of you took the opportunity to visit our new Clubroom under the main stand at Meadowbank. If you didn't, then we hope you'll take the opportunity at this match. In the meantime you can view a couple of photographs to see what you were missing. http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=membership.htm#photographs

We've made some changes in response to the feedback we had. Full details of all the changes can be found here
http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=fansview.htm

If you're planning to visit the Clubroom on 4th October please remember to bring your Season Ticket, even though it won't get you into the game, as it will get you into the Clubroom.

---------- Travel ----------
We shall be organizing trips to the Heineken Cup games at Toulouse and Leeds. We'd love to tell you details, but the dates of these games have not yet been finalized. You can rest assured that as soon as we have the dates we'll be announcing our plans. In the meantime, if you want to register your interest, please sign-up
http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=newsletter.htm
We'll also be organizing trips to Away matches in the Celtic League later in the season. More details will be announced nearer the time.

---------- Social Events ----------
We're currently planning a Kids' Christmas Party for early December, and a Ceilidh for January/February. More details to be announced shortly. In the meantime, if you want to register your interest, please sign-up
http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=newsletter.htm.

---------- Early Bird Training Shirts ----------
If you bought your Season Ticket early and are entitled to a Training Shirt, but didn't collect that shirt at the home match against the Borders, you can do so from the Clubroom at any future home match.

And finally...

---------- Rugby World Cup ----------
We've already mentioned Todd's Young Guns, and of course the reason Captain Blackadder (Sir!) is surrounded by all these tyros is that many of Our Heroes are off to the Land of Oz in pursuit of glory in the name of Scotland. Which, of course, gives the youngsters the perfect opportunity to upstage their elders (and betters?)...

But if you want to follow the adventures of Our Brave Lads (Official) Down Under then we've arranged the perfect opportunity for you to do so. In conjunction with Sportsters Bar www.citypeople.info in Market Street http://www.clg.co.uk/city/e_promo/ we will be screening Scotland's matches and many others. So, if you want to sup a mug of Horlicks while you watch the game then stay at home; but if you want some good food, fine beer, great craic and a big-match atmosphere then head-on down to Sportsters Bar where you'll find loads of like-minded souls.
