The Gunners started the new season how they rounded up the season 2003/04, with a hugely depleted squad due to a vast array of injuries.
This meant that it was largely down to the youngsters of the back up squad, full and part time apprentices and part time support players to get the boys off to a winning start with a 28-20 win over Exeter Chiefs at Inverleith on Friday night. http://www.edinburghgunners.org.uk/index.php?pageid=viewreport.php?id=69

BRING ON THE TIGERS
Next up for the Gunners are the star-studded Leicester Tigers, including the former England captain Martin Johnson (who I'm sure you will all give a warm reception!), on Saturday at Goldenacre as they round off a what should be a great day of rugby.
The day kicks off at 11am with the first group matches of the Mansell Cup. For those of you who aren't familiar with the format, the Mansell Cup is a tournament with two groups of four teams competing with the winner of each group progressing to the final. All matches are
15-a-side and are played over two 15 minute halves, during which there are no limit to the number of substitutions.
The teams competing in this year's tournament are: Boroughmuir, Edinburgh Accies, Edinburgh University, Glasgow Hawks, Heriots, Kirkcaldy, The Royal Scots and Stewart's Melville.
The Supporters Club will have a booth at Goldenacre, so make sure you come along and see us. You'll be able to sign up for your season ticket if you haven't done so already, buy your new Gunners merchandise and get information on our trip to Northampton. We will also be having a raffle with some unique prizes including a signed Gunners cake!
