Edinburgh Rugby v Tonga press Release 8.8.7
EDINBURGH RUGBY V TONGA
Catch the Braveheart spirit at Stewart's Melville's home ground, Inverleith, on Friday 24th August, when Edinburgh Rugby begin their new season with a bang against Tonga. The game kicks off at 6.15pm.
The Edinburgh squad are keen to get on with the next phase of pre-season following some tough conditioning work over the past couple of months. The Tonga game provides an ideal opportunity for some of Edinburgh's new signings to show the coaching staff what they are capable of as the squad builds up to their first Magners League game against Leinster on 22nd September.
Coach Lynn Howells said: "With an influx of up to 15 new players to Edinburgh over the summer, this is an ideal opportunity for our supporters to see what the squad promises for the coming season."
Tonga meanwhile are preparing for the group stages of the Rugby World Cup where they have a tough group containing England, South Africa, Samoa and the USA.
Tonga's preparations will be in their advanced stages and Lynn Howells states that: "As they always do, the Tongans will provide a physical challenge and with the stage they are at in their World Cup preparations they will be looking to implement their game plan." Lynn adds: "It is certainly an exciting fixture to start our season."
Tickets are available on the night at Inverleith: adults £10 concessions £5. Turnstiles open at 5.15pm and the match kicks off at 6.15pm. There will be catering available on the night and the club's bar will also be open.
