Gunners Dominate Scotland Training Squad
Phil Godman Called Up
Thirteen (count them, 13) Gunners players are included in Frank Hadden's latest 33-man Scotland training squad. Let's hope it's lucky for some! They are:
Backs: Mike Blair, Marcus Di Rollo, Phil Godman, Chris Paterson, Hugo Southwell, Simon Webster
Forwards: Dougie Hall, Allister Hogg, Allan Jacobsen, Alastair Kellock, Scott Murray, Craig Smith, Simon Taylor
Included in the "Injured and unavailable for selection" category are 3 Gunners: Simon Cross, Rob Dewey, Tom Philip
Phil Godman is called up for the first time. Frank said of Phil, "He performed particularly well when it mattered last Sunday. He responded to the size of the occasion and that's something you always want to see from a stand-off. For me that was a significant moment in Phil's development - to out-play completely a player of the calibre of Alex King in difficult conditions".
Godman commented, "I'm delighted to be called up. Sunday's game against Wasps was obviously a massive match and proved that Edinburgh are able to play a different type of game."
Frank also emphasised the importance of getting out the support for the Autumn Internationals. "If we are going to do something special in our first match coming up, Argentina, then we will need the support of the crowd. It was obvious that even the small (by international standards) crowd at Murrayfield last Sunday was able to assist Edinburgh Gunners' efforts in the latter stages of their game against London Wasps."
The three days training will take place at Murrayfield commencing October 31st
