Gunners Name New Managing Director

Graeme Stirling has been named today as the new Managing Director for Edinburgh Rugby Ltd, the new owners of Edinburgh Gunners.

Stirling, who takes up the post on Monday, was the site director for Scottish & Newcastle at their Fountain Brewery in Edinburgh for the past four years.

A graduate of Heriot Watt University, he offers a wealth of operations and human resources experience, gained with blue chip organisations based in Scotland.

A life long rugby player, he has lived in Glasgow for the past 11 years, where he has been a member of GHA Rugby Club. As well as continuing to play for the Gazelles over 35s team, he has been a major force in the club's junior section, where he has coached teams for the past ten years.

As an ardent supporter of the Scottish international team, he is looking forward to working with Alex Carruthers, the Executive Director of the new Edinburgh Rugby franchise at Murrayfield and contributing to the successful growth of the Gunners.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me to get involved with Edinburgh Rugby and continue my love for the sport with a top class side. There's much to do and I look forward to working with Alex and meeting the players and management."

Edinburgh Rugby Limited's ownership of the Gunners was announced this week. Bob Carruthers, brother of Alex, is the principal shareholder of the group of Scottish businessmen. Scottish Rugby remains as a co-investor and has a place on the new Board.

Alex Carruthers is pleased to have secured Graeme Stirling in time for the new season.

"I'm confident Graeme will fit in well at Edinburgh Rugby. Coming with a rugby background is important, helping him to use all his business skills and rugby knowledge."
