The Edinburgh Gunners' coaching team, made up of Todd Blackadder, Dave Hewett, Carl Hogg, Scott Murray (vice-captain) and Chris Paterson (captain), this morning announced five changes to the side that beat the Ospreys 24-18 at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Scrum-half Rory Lawson will make his first start following a minor injury to Mike Blair's knee which he sustained in Sunday's win, props Dave Hewett and Craig Smith rejoin the side, as does Francisco Leonelli who will this week start on the left wing in place of Simon Webster, who drops to the bench.

A reaction to an injury sustained by Matt Mustchin on Sunday has opened the door for Simon Cross's return to the team at openside flanker. Allister Hogg switches to the blind side.

Speaking on behalf of the coaching team Todd Blackadder said: "It's a huge chance tomorrow. Glasgow have a good squad and they'll be disappointed with their results so far. They are due a good one.

"We don't see any of the changes as a step backwards. We have the luxury of being in a situation where we can bring players in and know that they are ready for it. It's our first local derby and we're looking forward to playing on Friday night. We were grateful to see all the supporters at Murrayfield on Sunday and we hope to see them back again," he added.

Meanwhile, several members of the Glasgow Warriors squad have this week been suffering from a flu-like bug, therefore availability of some players is yet to be confirmed for their match against Edinburgh Gunners at Murrayfield tomorrow evening (7.30pm).

Warriors head coach Hugh Campbell said: "A number of the guys have been suffering from sore throats and upset stomachs so to be fair to them we're giving them as long as we possibly can to get over it so we have the largest pool of players available to us for selection."
