GUNNERS TEAM TO TAKE ON THE DRAGONS

EDINBURGH RUGBY team to face Newport Gwent Dragons in the Heineken European Cup on Saturday:

Lee, Boston, Southwell, MacDougall, Dey, Laney, Lawson, Jacobsen, Kelly, Smith, Pringle, Murray, captain, Strokosch, Callam, Hogg.

Subs: Hall, Dickinson, Kellock, Blackadder, Blair, Godman, Joiner.

From the Evening News:

EDINBURGH Rugby have shaken up their side for Saturday's Heineken European Cup visit to Newport Gwent Dragons including resting a key international contender as well as looking to the future.

There are six new faces compared to the side which faced Borders last time out with absentees from the starting line-up including Test scrum half contender Mike Blair who nurses a back injury on the bench alongside Todd Blackadder.

Announcing a line-up which sees Ben MacDougall take over at centre from Marcus Di Rollo, Matt Dey relegate Craig Joiner to the stand-bys and Rory Lawson deputise for Blair - all in the backs - coach Frank Hadden also listed three newcomers to the pack.

They are hooker Andy Kelly (for Dougie Hall), second row Fergus Pringle (for Ally Kellock) and back rower Ally Strokosch (for Blackadder). Hadden said: "Blair has been resting a back strain this week but is fit for the bench while [assistant coach] Blackadder can sit in the stand and help out when giving Strokosch an opportunity. Among the rest Dougie Hall has been ill so we have decided not to risk him from the start."

Edinburgh will run fitness checks on Derrick Lee before kick off.
