NEW EDINBURGH MEDIA MANAGER SIGNS IN
Mark Palmer has joined Edinburgh Rugby for the new season. His position is Media Manager, but he confirms that he also sees facilitating communication between the Club and the Supporters as part of his job.
Mark was raised in Inverness but came south to complete his education at Glasgow University. He has come to Edinburgh Rugby from the Sunday Times, where he was working on the Scottish sports pages. This was a wide remit, covering all sports as well as rugby and the – inevitable – football. Through this, he had already made contacts within Edinburgh Rugby management, so he feels that he is not moving into a completely new field.
The main focus of Media Manager will relate to Edinburgh Rugby’s website, the e-zines and, of course, contact with the media. Although he is happy to be in contact with supporters, it is unlikely that we will have the chance to chat on home match nights. This is a busy time for him, particularly after the game. But, if you are still around at the end of the evening, he would be delighted to meet you.
Mark intends commuting from Glasgow east for the foreseeable future. But I am to assure supporters that this shows no ‘Weegie’ bias, but is purely for personal reasons.
Mark played rugby at school – in the forwards - but professes no great skill in the game himself. However, he looks forward to working with Edinburgh Rugby and the Supporters’ Club, and we wish him well in his new post.
