Scott Murray suspended for 3 weeks

Will miss Gunners v Ulster & Scotland v England

At an independent Disciplinary Hearing earlier today Scott Murray, the Gunners and Scotland lock forward, was found to have committed the offence of recklessly kicking an opponent in the RBS 6 Nations match between Wales and Scotland on Sunday, 12 February, 2006.

The three-man Committee comprising Paul Mauriac (France) Chairman, Dr Barry O'Driscoll (yes, a relation) and Peter Boyle (both of Ireland) viewed video footage of the incident and listened to representations from the player, his legal advisor and Frank Hadden, the Scotland Coach.

Scott Murray has been suspended for three (3) weeks commencing on Monday, 13 February 2006. He is therefore free to resume playing on Monday, 6 March 2006. He will therefore miss the Gunners' match against Ulster and the Scotland match against England, but will be available again for selection for Scotland's match against Ireland.

The player has the right of appeal and 48 hours from receipt of the written judgement within which to lodge an appeal.
