| What I find terrible as well is that Sky is showing not only England, Wales and Ireland, but also England Saxon in the Churchill Cup! They are actually showing a second tier competition over a senior home nation international team. |

You need to wake up, the market for watching "2nd tier" English Rugby is FAR greater than for watching Scotland esp against Argentina. |

| The TV companies must be kicking themselves now after the result. |

Hope all TV companies are all kicking themselves after a great result for Scotland. I complained to both BBC Sky last week, interesting to hear what their responses are - funnily enough I still haven't heard from them yet |

Highlights of the Second test, Better than the BBC's
Have to admit, well read interception from Parks & from what little you can see, Cairns looks sharp! |

It would maybe be a decent bit of business for Setanta to buy the rights to the scotland games, after all they cover the magners league and not to mention the spl (im sure some football fans would have an interest) and it would only enhance their package!
Would you all buy setanta for the inclusion of these games? |

It would "maybe" be a decent bit of business for the BBC as well. |

Im thinking about the bigger picture, its more money for the SRU in terms of tv rights and a raised profile in terms of striking a lucrative deal with a vastly growing company!
Its the same for us all, you cant watch a fight, football match, golf these days without having to fork out our hard earned cash but unfortunately its a competitors market and its the way the world is!
I think it could be a shrewd move for a company like setanta, who cares about sky, they dont care about us anyway but it could potentially be a money spinner for the SRU
I reckon i could be on to something here |

| Out of interest, how much would it cost to buy the tv rights for a game such as the Scotland/Argy one just played, and whose exactly would it have been to sell.I'm assuming the Argentinian Union, but how much would make it's way to the sru if any? |

Obviously im unsure of figures, percentages etc but just think it could be a way forward for improved media coverage for the SRU.
Sky clearly have no interest so perhaps the idea of "selling themselves" is something the SRU should look into!
Especially with the game being played in Argentina, there is clearly a market to show the game as so many of you have expressed an interest in watching the games |

no idea, but as there were no obviously intested parties, its very much a buyers market, so not a lot. However in that situation it would be in the SRU's interest (not necessarily the Argies as it could affect home crowd I suppose) to virtually give the rights away. It gives further exposure to the product (rugby) and our sponsors and any more money is extra. |

| There's an article in the Herald today on the TV coverage. Looks like both SRU and the TV companies were both sort of to blame. Mr McKie is quoted in the article as saying the Argentinians put too high a value on the rights to the match so did they really bother negotiating? |

Don't follow how you make out the SRU were partly to blame - the Argies had the TV rights not the SRU. |
