| If the report in the scotsman about Cairns's knee ligaments is true and obviously depending on the severity , what are the thoughts on the starting back line for the game ( or even the Munster game if it is bad )? |

| I thought Calum McCrae did well on Saturday. I'd have no problem with him playing at 13. Maybe do him good to get a few games consistently in that position. |

| Macrae did do well. He seems to be reliable with regards to taking the right options and also has a hard edge. Is Houston not more of a 12? |

MacRae said earlier in the summer that he was going to focus on the 12 position, so he sees himself as a 12 primarily. I don't know about Houston, but he has the pace and skills to play 13 if need be, and I personally think he may suit outside centre better. NDL can also play well in the 13 shirt so whilst Cairns' injury is unwelcome it doesn't generate a massive hole in our lineup. |

Kitty (McRae) will more than do a job - I thought he played well in the CC in Canada and has moved on under Moffat's guidance.
How long is Cairns going to be out for? |

No Ross Rennie either - is he injured?
Looks like a good chance for Traynor and Grant to show what they can do in the front row.
Anyone going down? |

I'd like to see:
1. Grant
2. Ford
3. Traynor
4. Turnbull
5. Mustchin
6. Hogg
7. Macdonald
8. Newlands
9. Blair
10.Godman
11.Webster
12.Deluca
13.Macrae
14.Turnbull
15.Thompson
I'm intrigued regarding the scrummaging ability of Grant and Traynor. Robinson could easily have brought in an unspectacular experienced prop but has stuck with youth. I don't doubt they both deserve a chance. |

There was a mention in one of the newspapers a week or two ago that Hamilton and Rennie had both had (?) shoulder ops over the summer, and would be out for the start of the Magners' League season. Just heading off to the airport just now, but if I find the link, I'll post it when I reach sunnier climes. |

Jim Hamilton is still recovering from the injury that ruled him out of the end of last season as is Ross Rennie, I think they used the summer to have "clear out" ops on damaged bits. I spoke to them both early summer and they thought the warm up games may be too soon. Hopefully not too far off now though!
Personally I would like Paterson to be given a shot at 10 against Bath, but given Blair and Godders both in the team can't see it happening. |
