Ok, I know it's early to think about this, but who do you think will be the skipper for the Lions next year?
I don't think O'Driscoll is guaranteed a spot in the XV, so he's out. Other possibility from the Irish squad are Paul O'Connell.
The England Captain seems to change more often than traffic lights recently and I don't think the captain will come from there.
Ryan Jones has to be in with a big shout
Which means that there aren't, in my view, many candidates. That leads me on to Mike Blair. He's got to be one of the Scrum halves that goes to SA, and depending on form he could be first choice. If he is, I think he could be the skip |

| We placed a bet on Mike being Lions' Captain a couple of months ago, so I've got my fingers crossed! They were giving odds on him of about 150-1 at that time. |

Madness, he is one of the few players guaranteed a start and he is capt of both Embra and Scotland.
If fatty Ryan loses a stone and stops waddling he might be in with a shot, but to me Blair is a much better bet. |

I know we all think Mike is the best 9 in world rugby (vecause he is), but he was neck and neck with Mike Phillips in 6N for journos vote.
McGeechan has also stated that he likes forwards as Captains because they are invovled in the grunt side of things and theerfore easier to follow than the namby pamby boys in silver boots (I am paraphrasing!). Could be argued that a scrum half is simply the 9th forward! |

Where did you place the bet? I've been having a look around but I can't find anyone offering odds |

Mike would be a good choice but Geech has always won with forwards (Fin and Johnson).
Trouble is there are no front row candidates at the moment; Sheridan is a thicko and hooker is wide open; and few shoe-ins elsewhere in the pack either. White would have been a good bet two years ago but is no-where now.
POC could be a possibility, as could Ryan Jones, but neither are sure to start, although both will tour, if fit.
It will all come down to the 6N and who is injured. |

It was on one of the on-line sites. The other half was the one that actually placed the bet, and he's not here at the moment to check with. The odds had shortened quite a lot the last time he checked though. |

| Hopefully the lions team/captain will be picked on form and in position etc. So for me there are no contenders for another 4/5 months. I do agree however if the team was playing tomorrow MB could be right up there. |

| After todays performance we will be lucky to have any Lions from Edinburgh. Sure it will get better but today was veru very poor. We didn't even deserve a bonus point (however poor the ref / Munster were) |
