Haven't seen a MOM mentioned anywhere, but everyone stood up and was counted last night.
Quite a few contenders, Ben Cairns, Mike Blair but I would have to go for John Barclay, thought he was immense.
Thank you mediazone! |

I would hope it's demoinstrated what he should, in fact be used for - coming on for the last fifteen or twenty to control a game through kicking long when we need to protect a lead. |
Goggs Ross is perfectly able to do this and is better at passing and tackling so why not promote him and lose Parks. |

Skysports and Planet-Rugby (South Africa) both have Chris Paterson as man-of-the-match, but I don't know whether that was their choice or what actually happened. |

Really? As big a fan as I am, I didn't really think yesterday was his finest hour, though his kicking was as usual perfect. Would've gone for Barclay I think. |

Shows the folly of having left Barclay out of late. A great result, and it sounds like we looked a lot more dangerous going forward. We do have some good young players coming through, they just need the opportunity and the confidence to go for it.
Never mind about world cup rankings. People get obsessed about the RWC, as if it's the only thing that matters. We should only focus on winning the next match; if we keep doing that the RWC will take care of itself.
Interesting to see if Hadden ops to quit at this stage. It wouldn't surpise me if he did. He must be only too aware that his conservative selection policies have not helped the side over the last year. All coaches know that they have a limited shelf-life. Maybe he'll come to the conclusion that he's given all he can, and that it'd be better for someone else to take things on from here. We'll see. |

I wouldn't mind seeing him move upstairs to a DOR role where he could put his obvious passion for Scottish rugby to good use developing the future of Scottish rugby through the development of new set ups that he himself has called for.
I am fed up with McKie being the one and only man making decisions when he has about as much rugby nous as a tea bag. At least Frank has experience coaching at all levels.
I still champion Loffreda as my next Scotland head coach. |

| Yes I think Hadden seems to have a personal touch with players and maybe he could be used to manage or mentor the younger or future stars if the game somehow. If thats in a DOR role then fair enough but as his talent for strategy and tactics is in doubt i would hesitate to see him running rugby. |

I don't see how a coach who has failed can have any part in a national setup where he was formerly head coach. Fine if the coach in question has a decent record and has taken the team as far as he can.
Hadden's criticism of his players (particularly the younger ones) and constant excuses leave me in doubt that he would be effective at mentoring anyone.
Anyway, let's make sure he's leaving before we start wondering where the SRU will shift him to save money in some form. I think he would be quite happy to delude himself that all is fine and he's the best man for the job.
His tripe after the world cup about the team needing two years to be it's best smaks of someone who wants to buy time for himself. |

Guys, try reading or listening to the post match comments on the BBC by Mr Hadden. Spin yet again, he is back on to the same codwallop about a young team again. That was a presonal vindication for John Barclay and Phil Godman yesterday evening. Mr Hadden personally singled out John Barclay for unjust criticism in my opinion in the 6 Nations. Edinburgh supporters know that he has pointedly ignored Phil Godmans good form since December.
Having rewatched the game from the download I am of the opinion that making so many changes late in the game dropped the concentration levels of the team and allowed Argentina to score in overtime.
How can anyone even consider Mr Hadden as a Director of Rugby, given his abysmal selection policies and a rugby philosophy which changes with the wind direction. |

Whilst I agree Hadden seems to be running out of time... of the two teams I thought that Scotland look far better organised etc. I would have prefered to see a bit more flare but maybe that comes with winning games. I'm still not sure we're getting all we can out of our backs - is that Lineen or Hadden's job?
Although I'm against having Paterson at wing due to his lack of pace, in the narrow pitch the tactic worked. I'm not sure I'd stick with the same team when we come back to Murrayfield.
Job well done though and credit where credits due and all that. |
