Great news that there are going to be more back-up games this season. They're just what the squad needs. Shame it's on at 4pm rather than later, but I guess this is for Leinster's travelling.
Some interesting selections in the line up, notably Rory Hutton at stand off. Great to see Jim Hamilton included on the bench, and I hope he gets through this without any more injuries! |

| Why are they playing a hooker at 6? |

Maybe he's a utility forward? |

From Edinburgh site:
Edinburgh Back-Up 7 Leinster Back-Up 13 (played at Lasswade)
Mark Robertson scored a memorable try for Edinburgh’s back-up squad, but it was not enough to prevent Leinster’s second string from chalking up a win at Lasswade.
Edinburgh’s back-up squad contained three Scotland under-18 internationals including Alex Blair, younger brother of Mike and David, and the fixture proved to be a tough challenge for the youngsters.
Rory Hutton impressed at stand-off while Mark Robertson showed off his neat footwork and winger Andrew Turnbull also did well in a very physical encounter. |

Managed to catch the first half, and enjoyed Lasswade's very comfortable facilities. Edinburgh were up against a very physical Leinster side, and although out-muscled a bit they did move the ball well and had decent spells of pressure. Liked the look of Rory Hutton at stand off. Unfortunately Easson was clobbered twice and had to be removed from play looking a bit shaken.
From what I saw it looked a very worthwhile fixture. Very hard, physical and fast, so ideal preparation for regular pro-team action. Very glad there are to be more of these games this year. |

I thought the pack played quite well and even managed to take one against the head. A bit more composure and the result would have been quite different.
The players stood up well to a bigger side and put in a few big hits. Plenty of encouragement for the future.
Did anyone see what caused the 'handbags'? |

Against a clearly larger Leinster team Edinburgh came back well. Thought Jim Thompson looked quite good. Hope the injury to Easson isn't bad, some of the seniors were trying to cheer him up I think.
First time out at Lasswade, nice tidy ground. Definitely a good, hard exercise. |
