agreed with a lot of the sentiment on this.

I nornally dont join in a team bashing exercise but I have to confess to being pretty depressed sitting in the South stand on Firday night. I probably rank that as one of the worst Edinburgh performances I've seen (and I've seen a few over the years Rolling Eyes )

Daft penalties, coughed up ball, breakdown was a nightmare and once the heads went down a bit the defence crumbled especially when we started forcing it from deep.
Particularly the Tactical kicking was just awful - right down the necks of one of the best club backlines in the Northern Hemisphere - mental stuff!

I think that rennie, hamilton, cairns etc will make a difference but if you think that Leinster will have cullen, van der linde, rocky elsom and darcy to return then it shows that they could also go up another gear.

Hopefully it'll get sorted - I'm out with 20 guys in Belfast in a few weeks for the ulster game and its going to be REALLY bad if I have to take abuse from that lot about Matt williams. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

to keep the heid, we've got exactly the same points out these 2 fixtures as we got last year. So Fridays result was a mare, let get it out the system and move on.

That was obviously a painful result for you all but you were missing a lot of good players on the night, something I hadn't realised when I posted on this thread last week. Your guys owned the ball for the first 15 or 20 minutes and our lads were getting quite frustrated. It can't be a coincidence that we started to score tries after Sexton was replaced by Nacewa at No 10. Your lads heads seemed to go down after Fitzgerald got his 2nd try.

I wouldn't be too harsh on your team. This was only the 2nd match of an 18 match season and should be regarded as a blip. Every team suffers big defeats on occasion. We were mullered at home last season by the Scarlets. They put some 51 points past us but we went on to win the League. Whatever happens we will not be lulled into a false sense of security when it comes to the HEC match in Scotland. You've turned us over too often for that to happen!

Kind thoughts JohnB, but its still hurting. We were similarly thumped by Leicester last year, but now after a successful season and a couple of good warm-up games expectations were higher, and the results against Munster and Leinster have been very, very disappointing.

Injuries have certainly played their part but we've had two poor team performances and some individual performances that are unacceptable from professional players. I feel for Andy R who has achieved so much for us in the last year ... but I have faith in the guy. Lets hope for a much improved performance when the HEC comes around.

What you say is absolutely right, JohnB, and it's good of you to come on here and try and cheer us up with your words of wisdom. The nature of rugby is that when things fall apart for a team, the opposition can quickly run up a cricket score. It's happened to better teams than us before. Neither should we attempt to take anything away from Leinster, who really are a very fine rugby team right now. I doubt we'll be the last team to receive a royal tonking from you lot, although over 50 points is an exceptional score in the ML.

Munster are also looking strong, and posted 50 points against the Dragons, so the early season form of the big two Irish sides and the Ospreys is impressive. No surprise that these are the bookies favourites for the title, with Cardiff also expected to feature. The Scarlets have been the surpise so far, and are obviously in good form, so it won't be easy for us again this weekend. We still have good players, despite the last couple of results, and I'm sure they'll be extra-motivated for this game. I expect us to get back to winning ways as a result ,although it won't be easy.

Obviously I hope we get the better of Leinster come the HEC, but if we don't I'll have no problem wishing you all the best for the rest of the tournament. I can't see any reason why Leinster can't go all the way this year, and it'd be great to see another ML side win the competition.
