DL, I am just sick to back teeth of all the bitching and moaning about the SRU. The time has come to put a stop to it and move on, yes hold them to account when they are SimonMcDowell up - but for gawd's stop I wish they would stop all the whining.
Things are looking good at the mo - not that some would notice. |

| I heard the radio campaign on Forth 1 for the Munster game and I have to say was a little suprised by Munster being described as a very good team. I would have thought European champions might be a bit more rousing? |

| Yes it was a little ehm underwhelming wasnt it! If the team keeps this up they will market themselves. |

Don't you just love that smooth, understated charm jrp brings to the party! The point of the thread and poll Mr skinnear is to ask us all what we think of the marketing, could it be done better? It didn't ask us whether we think other, non-marketing things are looking good, bad or whatever. If you have nothing to contribute on the marketing question, why post on the thread?
FOSRS is doing fine thanks, just recovering from our exertions saving the Cup, reclaiming our web site etc. |

Is the new range of kit online anywhere?
If not surely this counts as poor marketing of the product itself and the club as a whole. |

There's stuff on the SRU shopping website and you can pre-order shirts on RugbyStore.co.uk as well - I see they've been delayed until the 14th of October now though. Maybe I should just have paid the extra fiver to buy one in person at the Scarlets game after all...

Yes, I found the link to the SRU webpage that doesn´t actually have the Edinburgh jersey on it.
I then receive the Edinburgh E-Zine which invites one to buy the Edinburgh jersey. It then has a link to the SRU webpage that oddly still doesn´t have the Edinburgh jersey on it.
Bravo..... |

| Can people who haven't already please vote in the poll. I'd like as many opinions as possible for a report I'll be putting together on the subject.l |

Hi guys, I have one final question that I'd like to put to you all.
Can you name all the promotion methods you know of that ER have used for this season? Including advertising, personanl selling, sales promotion and PR? I have a few that I found but not being in Scotland it's really hard to see what is actually reaching the consumer. Plus I know how knowledgeable you all are on the Gunners! I'm in the final stages of my marketing report and will be sure to post it but to be honest I have nowhere near enough info on the types of promotion techniques they're using.
Also can you please not quote this as I'll delete it when it comes to handing my thesis in case my professor actually checks the thread - I am referencing it after all!
Thanks a lot. The past 6 pages have been invaluable in gaining insight. |

Not sure of all the methods as I can't really remember any except the radio advertisement of the game against Munster describing them as a good team - not the European champions
What I think must be interesting for the person with the purse strings for Edinburgh rugby's Marketing/PR etc. is do they need to sell the idea of professional rugby to the local area ,or do they need to sell Edinburgh rugby?
Whatever there opinion, they are very lucky in that they are coming off the back of next to nothing being actively marketed , so anything is an improvement. |

I think that there was amrketing to all who have bought tickets to Scotland games who live in teh SE of Scotland. I also receive e-mail flyers (but lose track as to whether these are because I have signed up to things!). In the past they have sent registered ST holders flyers to put up on notice boards. Think there may have been advertising on Talk 107 (but may be wrong!)
Have seen posters in the gym (David Lloyd) and my barbers in Stockbridge.
Guess in summary, not a great deal that really sticks out! |
