It is indeed - bit of a bore watching a team of losers though. |

I've had the drive home and a couple of ciders down me -so I think I've calmed down enough!
The weather was good - a little breeze across the treetops but nothing significant and it was a clear and pleasant evening. (unlike last time when I was soaked to the skin)
Basically - well - it was the basics. Passes were dropped or sent into touch. the first half was awful and we really didn't deserve to be 11-6 down. (We were worse than that.)
The second half was a bit better. Mossy nailed the 3rd penalty almost from the touchline (to be honest his performaance was pretty dire in the first half). I'm no expert but the 9/10 combination seemed to work well - they both worked their socks off as did Hugo but when the ball went further out or into the forwards we seemed to be penalised or lost the ball needlessly.
Strangely I didn't see Robbo anywhere. He wasn't in the dugout with the replacements or wandering around before or after - and that may have contributed to a bit of confusion - it seemed to take ages to get replacements on.
All in all - an evening I'd rather forget. Thank god for the fact that Dragons left their kicking boots at home - we would never have got the bonus point otherwise. |

Munster revisited then? Never mind winning the league, at the moment even third place behind Leinster and Munster seems wildly fanciful.
I'm not looking forward to Ulster very much any more...

Looks like we have taken a backward step to the days when the "team" (and I use that word loosely) think it is acceptable to pull off the odd win now and again and when they lose they throw their hands up in the air while accepting all responsibility because they played cack. And from the ER handbook of excuses on the ER site we get:
“We needed to play better than we did"
"We made too many mistakes"
"But it was just too many basic handling errors that let us down again"
"It was frustrating"
And my favourite:
"We created lots of opportunities, but we’ve just got to take them because we aren’t doing that at the moment"
And of course to end on a positive note we have that time old favourite:
"It is something we can look at and try to improve before next week’s game"
Well done to the Dragons for doing what they needed to do to win the game and for resisting the temptation to laugh at our "teams" many mistakes. |

At least they haven't come out with any to rank alongside the Scott Murray gem: "We played well, we just didn't play cleverly." (Eh?!)

I have to agree with the post above about the post match comments made by Edinburgh.
The hootsman has an article today in which AR states twice that credit must be given to the Dragons. Personally I don't think they need credit at they won the match. Giving the other team credit is what you do when you want to appear graceful in victory. |

Jon said | Quote: | With all due respect to the Dragons this is a game we should win every time (FFS we have 18 internationals in our squad - no-one should come close to us!!), and despite losing 7/10 points against them last season I think we have a great chance here to win
ARs selction frailties - eh? With plenty of injuries last season he got us to 4th - which should have been 3rd. We have another 8 months to go, lets judge him then, and possibly best time is when we have a full squad to chose from.
jrp - I can see you are annoyed about this but we have a lot of games to come and barring injury Blair will feature in all the main ones, AR sees this as an opportunity to give valuable game time to others who will be required as the season progresses.... lets pass judgement on whether this worked on Saturday! |
It didn't work. He should have picked Blair. |

Maybe we should start a thread for best Edinburgh comments to the press, this was my favourite from last season, Phil Godman comparing himself to Contepomi :
"He said: "It should be a good match-up. I enjoy playing against Contepomi; we are slightly similar players.
"He is a class act and he can produce something out of nothing. When he is on form he is hard to stop."
Superb!!! |

I would say Godman is closer to Contemponi that Parks is to Carter certainly when international jerseys are pulled on!
But seriously, we all (both ends of the M know how dodgy he press are and how little work they do to get a story if they can help it, so lets not jump on the players too much! |
