EDINBURGH have been dealt an injury blow after promising young lock forward Steven Turnbull suffered a serious leg injury that looks likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.
Turnbull dislocated an ankle and fractured his fibula in three places in an innocuous training incident last week. Edinburgh confirmed that he underwent surgery and had plates inserted into his lower leg and ankle, and was yesterday discharged from hospital. His leg will be in plaster for at least a month.
The 21-year-old from Stirling signed for Edinburgh in the summer after impressing with the academy and a string of appearances for the pro team since making his debut off the bench two years ago.
Turnbull was pushing hard on the heels of Ben Gissing, Craig Hamilton and Jim Hamilton for a first-team berth in the coming month and many had forecast that this would be the season Turnbull broke into the senior ranks for good.
Get Well Soon Steven! |

We're not having much luck with injuries at the moment. This sounds similar to Cipriani's injury, and I hope he recovers just as quickly.
Doesn't seem to be any news on Rennie or Cairns either, which I guess means they're unlikely to be coming back any time soon. |

What a pity, Steven was shaping up nicely in the second row.
I hope he recovers well and is able to resume training as soon as he can. |
