|
|
Ben Cairns is expected to be ruled out of Edinburgh first team duties for a month after a scan revealed that he had damaged the medial ligament in his left knee.
The Scotland centre captained Edinburgh in the club’s opening pre-season friendly match against English champions, London Wasps on Saturday, 23 August.
But last season’s Young Player of the Year was withdrawn from the action after 23 minutes after damaging his knee in a collision with an opponent.
Edinburgh head physiotherapist, TJ Johansson said: “We will be managing Ben’s injury carefully and we expected him to be sidelined for a number of weeks.”

Could have been worse - knee ligament damage can sideline a player for a whole season.
Any news on De Luca's injury?
As one door closes, another opens - a chance for some of our other backs to shine. |

Looks like we won't have Ben and Nick for a few weeks. With the lack of info on John Houston the doors certainly may open for some of the younger players.
Possible pairing for the centres - Macrae & Webster, Mossy to one wing position Hugo at full back, possible opening for Thompson in the backs.
I was swithering to put Mossy on the bench as cover but I think we are going to need all the experience on the park on friday.
Nice to hear the advertising on the radio this morning. Hope the crowd is larger than what most of us estimate on friday. Good luck guys. |

| IIRC Hugo moved to centre against Wasps, I think that might be an option rather than moving Mossy to the wing. |

I thought Easson played against Bath as De Luca's replacement, so maybe we'll start with McCrae at 12 and Easson at 13.
De Luca will be a big loss if he's unavailable - he's been in superb form so far. |

We would be better off playing Hogg in the centre than Southwell.
McCrae/Easson/Webster, pick 2 from that 3. |

Any more news as to when Ben will return? It's been over a month since we were told that "he has been ruled out of action for a month" and there hasn't been any word of him even returning to training yet.
Could someone please enlighten me? We need a try scorer, especially for the AI's. |

Great! And no word on Webbo, Rennie or any of the other injured guys either.
Fingers crossed we'll get some good results before these guys come back. |
