I've just come off the SRU website. The "We are Scotland" advert is going to be shown again on STV on saturday afternoon.
Just who is going to see this?
Glasgow are down in Newport, we will be at Murrayfield and there just happens to be an World Cup qualifier at Hampden for the followers of the roundball game.
Unless the target audience are cross-overs from Formula 1 I don't honestly know who will catch the adverts.
Perhaps the rest of you guys have got some suggestions! |

I'm no expert on marketing but
there is little point in the SRU timing the ad so that the likes of you and me see it. Preaching to the converted?
Don't think the round ball is on cooncil tele, nor are any of the Heinekin games. There is Bmuir v Heriots on BBC ALBA tho and maybe this could have been avoided. Guess the hope is to put it on a Sat afternoon when any sports watchers are likely to be at home and watching TV. Would be better if the got it on SKY/Setanta mind! |

They are marketing to everyone, not much point in advertising to a market who have already bought tickets. |

As I said Glasgow are away, we are at home, there is an international football match on and there is a full card of club rugby on. As the forcast is dry for tomorrow the golfers will be making the most of it.
As for TV, any rugby fan will be looking at Sky, the footie fans will also be on the digital channels. Just how big will the audience be for the F1 practice?
Is there anyone left out there to watch the ad?
Don't get me wrong, it's a good ad, but you'd get more success showing it in the evening perhaps. |

jrp, I take it you're meaning attracting a new audience to rugby, and so showing the ad at a time to attract those people. However, perhaps you're not getting it?
As Oldsalt pointed out, Saturday had a lot of sporting events on, and the weather was good. Most people who would be prepared to get off their @rses to come to a rugby match, especially if they'd never been to one before, would be the very ones who would NOT see the ad, as they'd be out on a day like Saturday was. The couch potatoes left watching are unlikely to make the effort. Showing the ad in the evening would be more likely to catch an audience just in and relaxing after a fun day out, and more likely to try something new. |

Saw the advert for the first time on STV last night.
Whose bright idea was it to have the coward Parks' ugly face representing Scottish rugby? He must be the least popular guy in the squad. The loudest cheer of the day at Murrayfield is when he gets subbed!
Another piece of genius from the SRU PR department. |

Ooh, haven't seen one with Parks in it yet..
Have seen the one with Mossy/Mikey/Jason/Hogg, Kellock, Brown & Ford and Henderson/Morrison and the one with only Jason, but no parks yet..
what "element" did he represent?
Besides, he's not even Scottish! |

Lets drop the Parks is not Scottish, there are much mroe pertinent reasons to drop him!!
Or do we say is Hines (Wagga Wagga) not Scottish, or Cairns (Leeds). or Mutschin (Christchurch) or Kerr (Newcastle), or Big Jim (Swindon), or Hugo (London) or Roly (Saffer).... the fact is within the rules they are Scottish, so lets just point out their rugby flaws!
Because then we would have to get into the Chainsaw, the Leslie brothers and Mr Lineen.
Crikey, if he can get us to win on a regular basis and turn this season is around I would swear blind that Andy Robinson is Scottish! |

| I think the point is that the adverts are supposed to be about how the landscape of Scotland is ingrained in the men of Scottish rugby or something along those lines, and it would thus be sensible to use only players who were actually born and grew up in Scotland. |

| Apart from Matt though all the guys I named have Scots ancestry - so the landscape is ingrained in them. |
