So our season has take a turn for the better Very Happy.

Can we maintain our new found form and get an away win down in Newport to boost morale even further?

As long as it doesn't pee down all night - we should beat them.

Andy Turnbull put his foot down tonight and caused problems. Keep doing that along with Mark Robertson and there will be no problems!

Whoops what are we going to do with Simon?

Get him in at centre and do what he did against the Argentinians!

Please tell me you are joking! Webster is never ever a centre. Put him on the bench and make him earn his wing spot back with some decent performances in training and off the bench.

As long as we are having problems with injuries then don't discount anything. Simon literally had a smashing game in the second test against the Argentinians.
At least last night AR and the team were in control from the beginning. Good to see Jim Thompson, Gav Kerr and Jim Hamilton get some game time.
I'll stick to my reservations about Mossy in defence but last night he was pretty good overall in attack and Hugo also had his best game of the season so far, competition for places I guess can't be bad.

Mossy was "pretty" good overall Oldsalt... that IMHO is the best game Mossy has had in a long time in attack - the first time in a while that you could say he added more in attack than with the boot. Good effort Mossy.

Does make it intriguing with some of the guys due to come back - hopefully we will have all (or most) back for the heino.

Unbeaten in Wales last season... I'd like to think we can do the same this season!

Edinburgh Rugby Club squad to play Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade (Friday 26 September, kick off 7.30pm)

15 Chris Paterson

14 Andrew Turnbull
13 Hugo Southwell
12 Nick De Luca
11 Mark Robertson

10 Phil Godman
9 Greig Laidlaw

1 Allan Jacobsen
2 Ross Ford
3 Geoff Cross
4 Craig Hamilton
5 Jim Hamilton
6 Matt Mustchin
7 Alan MacDonald
8 Allister Hogg (captain)

Substitutes: Andrew Kelly, Gavin Kerr, Ben Gissing, Scott Newlands, Ben Meyer, David Blair, Jim Thompson.

Allan Jacobsen celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday and now the prop is aiming to reach another milestone during Edinburgh’s Magners League match at Newport Gwent Dragons on Friday night (26 September, kick off 7.30pm); his 200th appearance for the team of his birthplace.

After making his debut for Edinburgh against the touring ACT Brumbies in November 1997, Jacobsen signed as a professional at the start of the 1999/2000 season and has been a valued member of the squad ever since.

During his 11-year-association with Edinburgh, Jacobsen admits he has seen plenty of changes, but stresses that one aspect has remained permanent; his pride in wearing the jersey.

Jacobsen said: “It is difficult to put into words what playing for Edinburgh means to me; I just love being able to represent my city.

“Obviously a lot has changed since I was first involved with Edinburgh, but I have enjoyed every minute of it so far and I’m looking forward to many more years here at the club.

“Reaching my 200th appearance is definitely a big thing for me and my family, but at the end of the day it is just a number.

“With so many hungry young players in the squad I know I have to keep playing well in order to keep my place.”

Head coach Andy Robinson congratulated Jacobsen on clocking up a double century in first team appearances and says that is a testament to his character.

Robinson said: “It is a tremendous achievement and one that Allan can be really proud of.

“From my experience of working with Allan over the past year, the aspects that have really stood out have been his work ethic and attitude.

“He rolls his sleeves up and leads from the front. His experience has also proved really valuable in such a relatively young team.”

Jacobsen starts in a line-up without first team captain Mike Blair and second row Ben Gissing and Robinson highlighted the need to rest players during the season.

He added: “It is incredibly important that we manage every member of our squad efficiently otherwise we will lose key players through injury for long periods during the season.

“We have made the decision to give Mike a week to rest and also named Giss (Ben Gissing) amongst the replacements in order to ensure they remain injury-free.”

Summer signing Jim Hamilton makes his first start of the season after coming off the bench during last week’s win over Scarlets.

Lock Steve Turnbull (fractured ankle) joins Calum MacRae (hip), Simon Webster (hip), David Callam (hip), Simon Cross (ribs) and Roland Reid (knee) on the injury list.

Meanwhile, long term casualties Ben Cairns (knee ligament), Ross Rennie (knee), John Houston (pelvic) and Matt Dey (shoulder) are still on the mend.

He's resting Blair Evil or Very Mad

WTF!! I could see the point if we had a reserve, but Laidlaw is barely Prem 1 standard.

This is madness, Blair should at least be on the bench to turn things around when Laidlaw cocks up.

FFS we are only 3 games into the bloody season and he is resting our captain and best player.

Keep your hair on jrp. Laidlaw is perfectly capable of playing well enough to fill in for Blair.

No he's not, he's a very poor deputy. A pass slower than treacle, the infuriating 2 steps before the slow pass and nowhere near the threat that Blair is.

I repeat we are 3 bloody games into the league and he is resting players already - it's a bloody farce and more fuel to the ML detractors.

We'll have to agree to disagree about Laidlaw, and I think that you may have to look higher than AR for the culprit behind Blair being rested.

Oh stop it will you, the big boogy man Haddock cannot be blamed for everything.

I want us to win the league and this will not happen if we lose to the Dragons away on Friday.

We have a talented team but we lack depth and one of those positions is scrum half.

Congrats to Chunk for his 200th game.
