Playing lock again at the weekend - we actually need him playing 8 for the AI as their is no other No 8 putting his hand up.

Since when has someone playing regularly in a single position clouded Haddocks selection judgement? If Haddock want his at 8 that is where he has played, even if he is a full back!

Too true Jon Rolling Eyes

But as far as no No.8's putting their hands up is concerned, you could say the same about most positions when it comes to international recognition. Stroker at Gloucester and Taylor at Stade are our only true performers over the season thus far. Others have shown glimpses but many haven't shown at all.

From what I have seen performers this season include Chunk (1 missed tackle apart), Cross, Big Jim, apparently Barclay is looking good at Glasgow and Simon Taylor. Apparently Cussiter is first choice 9 at Perpignan. Apart from Saturday Blair has looked good so far, and Robertson looks threatening.

I also saw against Wasps in EDF Gloucester had all Scottish front row - Dickinson, Lawson and Young! Looed all right as well!

Big names not performing - Webster (1st game back but would have been better with Turnball or being replaced by Houston), Southwell, Ford (looked great against Llanelli, but looked dis-interested on Saturday) and Hogg - he seems to be replying on 1 decent pick and go a game. We need more players back to challenge.

Southwell a big name? Number of letters you mean Razz

Strockosh is one of the form GP backrows - Barclay from what I have heard is carrying the weegie pack - so that leaves 8. I would be happy for Taylor to be there as I think that backrow has an excellent balance.

Dickenson actualy started on Sat, not sure whether that was down to injuries but he had a great game in the loose the week before. But sadly we can't afford a lightweight at 1 in the test side. Our scrum did OK on Sat, but it was only the ladyboys we were playing, not sure chunk is in the right sort of form for the AIs. Fortunately Murray is, but Ford isn't.

Second row appears to be in the same mess, Nathan didn't start on Sat, Kellock is a useless fanny, Hamilton is not fully fit, Mcleod is a lightweight and oh! There is nobody else. I would partner White with Hines, I doubt Jason will ever regain the form that made him an oustanding 6 in 2006, his future is at lock IMO.

Mcleod may be a lightweight, but he's been the only thing keeping the lineout from going completely t**s up for the last year!

McLeod can't even get into the Scarlets team and their front 5 are poor.

Played full game against Munster, looked good and making the calls. Seems to be a form player - unfortunately after his spat with the SRU (over "sacking") Haddock only wants him as a last resort!

If Murray is in form then he must come back into the reckoning - as there is nobody else. Kellock will never be a test lock, Hamilton is still returning from injury and McLeod is not on form either.

Glad to see consistency is still at the heart of Scotland selection - form is still not a criterion.

You have to play in Scotland - otherwise poor Frank will have to perform the distasteful task of asking your club to release you. Razz
