If we sign a Kwagga, it's more likely to be that lad from the U20s!

Kwagga van Niekirk is admittedly more likely.

Kwagga Smith is likely to move north at some point though. A one year deal when potentially 4 Edinburgh backrows are tied up with Scotland and inevitable injuries. Before moving to the AP for ££££

and potentially not 4 tied up with Scotland. RWC cover has to be made, and it has been with 2 signings already. And you don't sign extra players because you might get injuries - that is what the normal squad size covers.

Edin would only sign - should only sign a fairly high profile bloke like Smith if he is going to be first pick and an improvement on what is already here - would he be?

That is exactly the sort of signing we need, short term cover for the world cup in a position where we could well be without five players

I hope we hear about a scrum half soon

That's a belting signing. What does short term mean, I wonder? Until Christmas? Does he have a contract to go to after that?
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Looking like 3 months per other reports so sept post Currie cup into dec.

Great signing if it comes off, sort of signing we have seen Munster and Ulster make in the past.

Kunavula signs long term deal

https://www.edinburghrugby.org/the-club ... r-kunavula

Looks like succession planning for Mata, although surely means all our OOC SQ backrows will not be retained at end of coming season

I'm not sure Barclay will stay.

Kunavalu is a super exciting signing. Great stuff!

JBs deal is up at the end of the season IIRC.

Wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the world if Mata left then too despite his bumper new contract.

Nic Groom confirmed. https://www.edinburghrugby.org/the-club ... half-groom

Doesn't say length of contract, but he does say "I can’t wait to play my role in the seasons to come."

Jamie Lyall on twitter saying two years with option of third. interview with Groom on RugbyPass later today

Also if Kwagga Smith confirmed on short term deal that is our recruitment complete.

EDIT: I thought we may look to bring in someone following Nasokos failed move as still light in the back 3, unless as one article suggested he may yet sign after clearing injury.

Absolute legend, for club and country. It's good he's staying on in the game to do S&C for the Borders & East Lothian academy players

Tom English does a pretty good summing up of Fordy's career imo
