Good stuff ZT.

Does Bresler not become SQ next summer as well, thought he joined same time as Burleigh, or is he already tied to Namibia?

You're right. I thought Bresler was tied but he's not.

Also, are we sure Miller's still going to London Scottish? I remember Robbins was also announced as going before the deal went south, are they part of the resurrected arrangement?

That's a good question and I reckon he looks as ready to step up for us as Jamie Ritchie did when he got a full contract.

I'm not too concerned about expiry of contracts tbh, with the political stuff going on at the moment we don't really know where we stand wrt players being poached by French clubs and to be brutally honest we don't have that many players who would be targets. The Gilcho deal might still be on the table subject to fitness, but again that has many variables attached to it. WP is the one, and he would be a target for English clubs, but they are tied to a huge amount of money for their clubs to field so many England-qualified players now, but I still think the SRU will have to dig deep, he's worth it though.

Young Lock added on an Academy contract apparently.

Jamie Ure, Scotland U19, from Worthing

You're right. I thought Bresler was tied but he's not.

I've always been confused by that. It's not as if Namibia are replete with players who play at pro level, so I've always assumed he must have politely declined.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

He probably had his eye on representing SA before he came here.

Has confirmed this in interviews since he moved to Edinburgh. Will try to remember to dig it up later, but the gist was that Namibia is just somewhere his family happened to come from - South Africa was home.

I missed this article at the time, you're right Frenchy, it seems his family went back to Namibia at the appropriate time so he could be born there

I actually hadn't seen that one either, thanks for posting.

This is the one I was remembering: http://www.scotsman.com/sport/rugby-uni ... -1-3643047

Article wrote:“If the Springboks’ selectors are watching, are following my career, all I can do is play my best. I can’t phone them up. It’s all on their terms.”

Why didn’t he just target Namibia, the country of his birth, who have already booked their place in Rugby World Cup 2015? His cousin Tinus du Plessis turned out for them during the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand and did enough to earn a contract at Wasps. “The thing is, I was only really born there,” Bresler replies. “I’ve got family there, a lot of people ask me this, but I am actually a South African boy, that is the team I will support in the World Cup.

“I don’t know much about Namibia, except my whole family being born there, but my heart lies in South Africa.”

So if his heart lies in South Africa, what does Bresler think of turning out in the navy blue of Scotland one day?

“If that option comes up I will definitely look at it.”

Looks like this is our squad for next year. Still seems a bit light in the back row to me. Doesn't feel like anything else to be an.
False alarm on the Ben Ransom thing
