Greig Laidlaw's been announced as Gloucester's captain for next season, taking over from Billy Twelvetrees.

He'll do a good job for them.

This would also point to Matt Scott being seen as their first choice at inside centre, I guess. I hope the change of scene can help Matt get back to his very best.

Thought I'd put this in here - even with Glaws putting two sides out this weekend, Matt Scott is still at 13.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Think this has a lot to do with the fact that Henry Trinder is out injured for the foreseeable future. In an ideal world Matt would have been at 12 and Trinder 13.

Laidlaw is off to Clermont at the end of the season. Good luck to him, hope he does well there.

Aye, good luck to him. Good chance to get some more silverware in his cupboard.

Rumour has it that CA were wanting Laidlaw to retire from internationals.

Would not be surprised if they were.

Great move for him though, he has worked hard and done well. Sadly he seems more appreciated abroad than he is at home.

I was wondering about that. Current first choice is Parra, it'd be odd if they had two 9s both disappearing during six nations and AIs.

I don't think Laidlaw would retire internationally as you can see his passion for Scotland when he plays. Clermont probably want him because he's better than Parra. Laidlaw is criminally underrated and it shows when he isn't playing as Scotland look fairly lost.

Parra's not guaranteed to be in the French squad - he didn't feature in this year's Six Nations, although he was in the squad. Clermont also only have one stand off, according to wikipedia, so are possibly planning on playing Parra or Laidlaw there as well.
