Hope we get to see him in 15s soon

And another two in the second match.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

As we come up to mid-season, here's an update of all who's started and benched so far, plus their scores and cards, for those poor souls who like this kind of stuff.

Cockerill continues to rotate the full squad, all bar one who's fit has had a shot or several, which to me is a very positive way of building a squad and seeing what all can do - happy days!

Top try scorer so far, and equal top points scorer, is SHC, matching Tovey on points and, after tonight, a try ahead of Blair Kinghorn.

All the younglings in their first pro season have had a go so far, except Ally Miller, whose turn can't be far away, viz:

Crosbie: 4 + 3 (where the plus is off the bench)
McCallum: 1 + 5
Fenton: 1 + 2
Hunter-Hill: 0 + 1 (looked very good on his first outing, anticipate a lot more to come)

Galbraith has been injured so far, likewise Graham, though sounds like the latter is scoring tries for fun with the 7s! Look forward to seeing both + Miller in ER colours before long.

B_ _ _ _ _ r

The total for the 4th column, starts + bench, should of course be 276, not 253...

My bad

Probably, at least on our side. There are some young 10s playing in the Prem, Dewhirst, Thompson, Brunton, and Fox are all U20s this season and regulars, but none in the senior academy yet.

Don't know why the Scottish system is so terrible at producing 10s, Russell came through the U20s in 2012 and he's the most recent product that's actually made an impact at pro level. Since then we've relied on exiles.

I wasn't aware Fox was also -20. It bodes well for the -20 team to have four stand-offs playing regular premisership rugby. Last -20 selections at 10 (you forgot Allan who actually made an impact at pro level!) :
2011: Weir
2012 : Leonard/Russell
2013 : Allan/Cooper
2014 : Chalmers/Hutchinson
2015 : Hutchinson/Galbraith
2016 : Hastings/Hutchinson
2017 : Eastgate/Henderson

Rizzo has been recalled to Leicester because Ellis Genge is out with a shoulder problem.

Mail reporting Nel's out for 5 months, missing the 6 Nations.

I'm now convinced we'll be starting the tournament with Traynor and Nicol as our starting props.

That's not good, 5 months is a long time for a break, must be a complication.

Nicol I could just about live with, Traynor though.

BBC saying 12 weeks for Nel back mid 6N, but unlikely to feature.

Bresler leaves "by mutual agreement to pursue other opportunities".

Have also signed Jordan Lay, a Samoan international prop. Not sure if LH or TH.

Edit: loosehead. Here till end of season, coming from Bay of Plenty.

Bresler joined Worcester.

Thought he would be Cockerills sort of player, had very little match time this season but been very good for us in the past. Sorry to see him go wish him all the best.

Edit: Wonder if Solly is after anyone else

Odd that Bresler hasn't fitted in this season. Always seems committed on the pitch, and is the classic enforcer lock really.

Lay and his bro were the Samoan LHs against Scotland in Nov. Can't remember which one started, wasn't particularly impressed by either

Bresler never really did it for me but he did pit in a shift. So best wishes.

Lay seems a decent enough pick up for this time in the season. Looks to be in a position where he’ll work hard to try to get a contract somewhere.

has clearly been behind Gilchrist, Toolis, McKenzie and Carmichael, hardly featured for a while. So Bresler move from a team on the up to one on the way down (or would be if LI were not even worse)

Suggests something other than on field and I'd guess his agent touted him to Solomons and others, Edinurgh happy to offload him now and free some budget for a prop or 2.
