Hamilton does spout some amount of p1ish on his podcast conversely I watched the Samoa match on BT sport and he was co-commentator with Nick Mullins and I thought they were pretty good and he gave some useful insight/analysis at times.

Barclay would be a really good signing strong leader and coming from a winning environment I think his presence would really benefit our crop of young back rowers. I do agree a 3 year deal for a 31 year old is a bit of a risk but it is perhaps the reason we have a chance of signing him as others are not keen to offer the same length of deal similar to the Fruean deal ER having to be a bit creative to compete with bigger cash offers.

Re a 12 – I think Cockerill needs to decide on how he wants us to play and then recruit accordingly. Behind a strong pack generating quick ball the Tovey/Burleigh partnership is working well with a playmaker 12 rather than a crash ball 12 (even Gatland is trying to move away from this!). We have a couple of big wingers and both Dean and Fruean are big lads so there is still scope to bring them in off 10 if we need someone to make hard yards when necessary.

From a selfish point of view it would be handy if his status were resolved before the trip to SA.

I'm sure you meant to say "From a shellfish point of view ...... " didn't you zt1903?

I saw a BBC story, but there is nothing on the Edinburgh site about Barclay

SteveWalsh I never guess right, I had better get a lotto ticket tonight.

Great to see McInally stick around, real improvement this season under Cockerill and I think he can get better still.

Presumably this deal, and others, have been done and dusted for a while and as in the past it is just the communication to be made.

I think there is definitely a more professional approach around the ER communication machine since RC came in, no big delays between the various social media channels and ER website updating and taking advantage and making timely releases like this I don’t think would have happened in the past.

CDP for Motm this weekend and a new 2year deal next week please.

Great news on McInally. Had a tough time of it last year, but finally looks ready to break through internationally now, and it'll be a good fight between him and Brown for the starting shirt through to 2019.
