I wonder when these reputed A games are going to start? IIRC, Dodson said possibly 5 this season, mainly against AP A sides. It will be a good opportunity to see what the younger players and Stage 3 Academy boys have to offer, it's a great idea. Can't see an obvious point to slot these in the fixture list, but there again the AP sides manage two A leagues, playing mid-week fixtures, so it must be do-able.

If correct about Barclay presumably means Hardie is exiting? And the lack of news on the Hardie front suggests a negotiated exit on the cards--reasonable to assume that if he is "innocent" we'd have surely heard by now?

It's very likely, they fill very similar roles in the backrow, and it'd be hard to keep three test quality flankers given our budget. Though that said, the one year deal for Hardie could mean he was planning on leaving regardless and we might end with neither him nor Barclay.

I think the squad is shaping up nicely, tbh, providing we renew the right contracts and get they guys off the physio's table and on to the park.

We need a really good half-back pairing, a pair as good in their positions as Watson is in his. SH-C and Tovey could be it, they might not be, either way right at this moment there is a gap there, and for Martin's benefit, if we can fillet it would be brill.

I don’t think you can assume anything about his guilt or innocence.

From a selfish point of view it would be handy if his status were resolved before the trip to SA.

Unless I missed an injury report.

Or perhaps the other medical issues that made him a bit of a gamble are the issue? For his sake I hope not.

Don't agree on that, even Bennett who's the most like an out and out 13 in the squad has played 12 for Glasgow in the past. Dean, Galbraith and Fruean can all play at 12 in addition to Burleigh and Rasolea.

A specialist 12 would make a difference to us. Rasolea will leave, Freuan is a 13 \ wing (plus injury issues) and I really don't think Galbraith will make it unfortunately.

It would be ok if Dean committed to a switch to 12 but that doesn't seem to be happening. I hope Hurrell is being lined up for that role - would be a great signing if we get him.

Don't know much about Hurrell but he made Will Greenwood's Aviva Premiership Team of the year last season, guess what, at 13 .

Rumours Barclay has signed a three year deal here but on his podcast Jim Hamilton claims he signed for Quins!

You beat me to it!

"Edinburgh first. Ten days have passed since the first report that Barclay will leave the Scarlets this summer to join Richard Cockerill’s side. Asked about it last week, he did nothing to deny it, and the same was true yesterday.

“It won’t go away,” he said of the story. “I’ll play a straight bat.”

There is now no doubt that the move will be agreed, and it is understood that the aim is to announce it officially this week. But if for logistical reasons an announcement has to be postponed until early next week, and if by that time Barclay has led Scotland to victory over New Zealand – well, perhaps so much the better from the point of view of Edinburgh, for whom such a signing represents a major statement of intent for next season."

Definitely the kind of character we need but nervous about a 3 year deal for a 31 year old after Dickinson and Ford´s struggles. I'd be more comfortable if included a coaching element in year 3.

We could end up with half a dozen 13s! He does play 12 though too - hopefully that's the intention. He was top in the English Premiership for turnovers last year - not bad for a centre!

Can we start a tally of rumours Jim Hamilton says are true which turn out to be true?
