and it doesn't matter a LawrenceBryce whether the player is SQ or not. Edinburgh's focus has to be Edinburgh, as you rightly point out, plenty of 9s getting game time elsewhere so one nSQ 9 here is fine even from a Scotland perspective

Also the usual fan boy rubbish being posted (not your post) which is pretty much oh he plays for an A team he must e good, so if he is Scottish sign him. Steele showed promise a few seasons back. He is now rapidly approaching his mid twenties and is hardly a regular starter for the worst team in the AP. Need to set sights higher. Vellacot has been covered umpteen times - he has signed up again for Gloucs and he ain't moving here so can we please forget it.

I think it might have been me me who raised the Vellacott thing again, but it was by accident as my meaning was more “someone like Vellacott”, ie a young player on his way up to his best.

To be honest I’d rather keep SH-C but get him doing a johnny Wilkinson on his passing, get him working his nuts off on it.
Is it set in stone that he is on his way out?

Happy New Year to all Embra fans btw

Piece on the BBC about Vellacot yesterday. Looks like he has caught Eddie Jones' eye. Going to be interesting to see if he is called into the 6N wider training squad?

Hardie back training and available to play from 19 January.

Would not want to be on the end of his first tackle after 3 months sitting out.

Agreed, I fully expect that he will knock himself into next month and a full set of concussion return to play protocols!

Sutherland apparently touch and go for the Kings game but will be back after that if he misses it. Good news - thought he was going to be out for longer.

Definitly a Solomons' boy. I can't say I'm sad to see him leave.
His departure opens the door for Hunter-Hill in an area where we have a real strength in depth with Gilchrist back to form, McKenzie appointed captain and Carmichael hightly estimated...

Update on prop injuries - Marfo now out for longer than originally anticipated. Baws

Also apparently no prospect of Dicko returning "anytime soon". Beginning to think we may never see him in action again. Would be a really sad end for him.

Bit odd given Fowles is potentially away with Scotland leave us quite bare. Similarly at FB, Fife I suppose is the option, unless Tovey is nearing fitness?

Would have though a winger would have been missed less or even a centre, athough Rasolea would be the one to free and he is the one who is not eligible.

Edinburgh don't have any games those weeks, so disruption will be minimal.
