I remember one where he played the opposing jumper's arm, which is one of these things, the stupid one was climbing all over him again at the next lineout, but it did also look like the lifters were at fault on that incident.

If I can bring myself to watch the game again I'll have a look out for the others.

I've never considered Gilcho any kind of penalty magnet.

There's a 10/12 playing for the Blues who's going well by all accounts, and could be worth a look ... :P

Saints have beaten us to him. Wish him well down there, I think we let a goody away

Sadly, I don't think his career would have developed at Edinburgh the way it has elsewhere.

He'd be SQ by now but you're right, his development will have probably gone in very different direction.

Can we see Kinghorn getting more time at 10 or staying at 15? #MossyMkII

Hopefully Cockerill can get the best from him if that is the case, needs to cut out the ridiculous penalties and wear a sensible colour scrum hat.

Interesting. Shows how much the market for him has fallen off. Top tier French clubs to Gloucs wanting to sign him.

There was one stupid lineout penalty on Saturday, but other than that I thought he looked much more like his old self.
He's still only 26, I'd like to see what he brings during a good injury-free run, and I'd much rather he was fit and firing for Edinburgh than anyone else, at his best he is a hell of a player.

I think he could be a very good club player. He has been a bit of a sick note (not all his fault) so he has a fair bit to prove IMO*. Realistically he has given very little return on last seasons contract so even this deal is a way a bit of good faith by ER/SRU.

If it is true that he and Nel are signed then that is the tight 5 mostly sorted. I hope they have the BR and backline recruitment in hand as it needs some work.

*Not all his fault, but VC elevated him way above his level by naming him captain of Scotland. I haven't seen every game he has played but he had never shown that sort of quality anytime I saw him play.

Being captain of Scotland isn't necessarily about quality but leadership - think Al Kellock.

Rico the red and black didn't suit him, he only wants to play in blue.

He gave away 4 pens. Two players with two, 5 with one. That's not acceptable for his contribution.

I agree 4 is too many but it is not as black and white as that. If he is the one who is there to stop the driving maul then he is more likley to be penalised, it really depends on the refs approach to maul defence. Similarly a pen 10m from the line is preferable to conceding a try, so if momentum is building it is better killed off.

I thought GC looked good on sat, Glasgow supporters will not give him the credit he deserves as he is not Tim Swinson in the same way Visser will always be a turnstyle in their eyes. The reality on selection is likely he is there to do a specific job which is add bulk, grunt and disrupt the mauls. Toolis can do some of that and Swinson can do some of that but neither provides the security in the scrum that GC can, he is a huge lump and is good at disrupting mauls (sometimes legally). We dont tend to breed many massive lumps so when we get them then they tend to play, although Gray snr adds more than just that. If you look at the 2 NSQ 2nd rows that Glasgow have signed they are basically just big lumps as it compliments what they already have, its not whether GC is better than Swinson its what he offers to compliment the squad and for a specific game.

There is also the leadership element, I have no idea whether GC adds a lt n that department, but Vern seems fairly sure and I am willing to accept he may know a little more than me!

I agree with your post, but recently Toolis has been at the tighthead side of the scrum. I took this to mean that Toolis is now considered the stronger scrummager, but that could be wrong.

I thought he looked decent enough with ball in hand when he was with us but his kicking was absolutely rank, so I imagine that part of his game must have improved.

Big news to be announced later today according to the ER twitter feed - Nel re-signing or the aforementioned SH import ?

Might not even be player related.
