Burleigh red card

Disciplinary hearing tomorrow.

I would expect "Low end, previous good conduct, admission of guilt, remorse" == 1 week ban

Reckon so. One week.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Strikes to the face don't really get any more "low end". He has a clean record as far as I can remember. Contrite on the pitch when the referee was explaining the decision. Hard to see how that doesn't add up to a reduction in the ban, which makes a one week ban look like the only real possibility.

1 week plus £35. This seems like an appropriate admission fee for the superb acting performance which followed.
Bill Mata. The second coming?

Can the panel make any reference or comment on the behaviour of Pape? Even in the context of their decision re Burleigh? Otherwise does the playacting, bringing the game into disrepute etc go unpunished?

I think that will be outwith their remit and they will not [be able to] do anything about it. The "playacting" directive is really targeted at incidents where a player has attempted to make a match official believe that an offence has been committed when one has not. Since there is no doubt here that an offence *was* committed, the extent to which Pape hammed it up is - unfortunately - a moot point.

I suspect that Mr Pape will not find himself getting many 50:50 decisions for a few weeks though.

So he should have been yellow carded then. Pretty much what I thought at the time.

He's now well known for being an @rsehole in Scotland as well. Sphincters respect no international boundaries!
