That Glasgow side looks very beatable...

Happy to see Cornell back for this, he loves a game vs the Weegies. It's a shame Nel and Bresler are still out though.

Front rows should be a good battle.

Think we have a slight edge in the back row. Watson v Favaro should be good.

Glad to see Pyrgos start over Price who is looking really sharp at present

Junior Bulumakau – Fijian wingers are Christmas dinner for Tom Brown have they not learned

Two strong sides. Not confident, but recent results have been negatively correlated to my confidence, so :?

Players unavailable due to injury: Michael Allen (knee), Anton Bresler (groin), Kevin Bryce (shoulder), John Hardie (ankle), WP Nel (neck), Alex Northam (ankle), Rory Sutherland (groin)

We've gone for pretty much the strongest team we have available, so not much to say beyond hoping they finally manage to start playing before half time.

Glasgow side is pretty weird, Bulumakau's an odd one, dropping Price who's been electric, no lock on the bench either.

Should be a good game though, as long as Glasgow lose.

Think they might be looking to flood the breakdown for the last half hour, Harley to lock and two fresh back row players.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Just realised this is Berghan's first ever league start. His first start was against Stade Francais last week.

Think you're right. They are presumably aiming to kick on for the try bonus against a tiring defence. Looks like it's going to be cold and dry on Boxing Day so probably quite a smart selection.

Hopefully we'll be out of sight by then.

Really? That's an incredible stat.

Anyone know anything about Nel? Should've been back by now...

Not seen anything official but Dickinson was quoted as follows in the Scotsman.

"WP missing is a massive blow but getting himself right is a big thing, it’ll add a couple of years to his career. We deal with it, it’s pro sport and you just have to crack on and deal with injuries

Match preview here:

I've tried to be as even-handed as I can... :D

The stat that surprised me was the pack weights. Should be a good contest - but hopefully with both sides viewing winning the forwards battle as being a means to an end rather than the essential part of the game.

A reasonably fair effort - normally I would have DuPreez easily ahead of Strauss but Strauss played really well last match out and my gut says Watson ahead of Favaro although they offer something different at 7 so even maybe if I am being generous.

Dell ahead of Grant for me.

Hoping for a really good match.

That's the one I would get all stroppy about. Dell is second only to Dicko at the moment, I'm not even sure he is second to him with Al only just coming back.

CDP is taking a while to get back to his best, so I'd have Strauss on recent form slightly ahead, it's up to our man to make his case on Monday.

I also think SHC, at his best, has a game that only Price is capable of matching, but as we all know he's been short of that form for a good 18 months. There are signs that it's coming back to him, he's a feisty guy, I think this game could be the one for him to get truly back on the horse.

Good write up, Disco.

Maybe a slightly rose-tinted call :D I'm still a wee bit unconvinced by Dell though. He's only managed 8 starts for Edinburgh in 2.5 seasons. He's started as many Tests for Scotland this season as he has for his club. Seems a wee bit undernourished for a prop too!

I think I would have Rory Sutherland well ahead of Dell in terms of scrummaging and effectiveness in carrying and (even though he's taking a few games to get back up to speed) Dickinson would still be my number 1 for Scotland and Edinburgh by a fair distance.

Mind you - what the hell do I know about playing in the front row! I should probably be deferring to your better judgement on this one!
