Agree on Watson in his breakthrough international season. I would add the post engagement law change and pre-injured Nel and Visser in the first couple of years of his international career before Solomons turned our outside channels into wastelands. Think we are then going back a bit to the likes of Mossey, Mickey Blair and Chainsaw. The point's therefore well made!
Two games in but Watson has been MIA this year - as has Toolis.
Nel is generally better for Scotland but I take your point, Visser is a good example. Maybe another one is Matt Scott? Who has gone up a level since leaving.
But it very much seems internationals just get a cap and decent time with Scotland they stagnate/decline for Edinburgh. Doesn't happen at other clubs. Glasgow for example the only player I can think of who does it is Stuart Hogg but he was class for Glasgow for a long time.
Sure you have examples of meh players who aren't international class but have caps (Weir, SHC, Kennedy, Berghan, Hoyland etc). But what about Ford, Toolis, Gilcrhist, Watson, Hardie, Bradbury, du Preez who all are top players?! It is a real problem that Cockers touched on last night saying internationals just don't perform for Edinburgh.
It is time to let them go, they aren't scared of losing to Zebre/Treviso. They can do that and next month they'll still be in Scotland camp. Pathetic attitude.
