Another home match and an opportunity for 3 wins in a row (when was the last time we managed that?) and to continue to build some early season momentum ahead of a couple of tough away matches.

Treviso ran Ulster close at home last week (14-21) but have tended not to travel well.

Team due out tomorrow but I will take a punt anyway. I was thinking there will probably not be huge changes but some perhaps due a rest (Ritchie/McInally I think have played in all matches so far) maybe some others coming onto the bench but as Cockerill was not happy post-match last week perhaps some others will be given the opportunity this week.

Kinghorn,
Hoyland,
Fruean,
Rasolea (Burleigh if fit),
Harries,
Tovey,
SHC

Rizzo,
Ford,
Nel,
Toolis,
Bresler,
DuPreez,
Watson,
Bradbury

Subs Marfo, Cochrane, McCallum, Gilchrist/Carmichael, Hardie, Fowles, Weir, Bryce

Dean has to play 13, (Fruen @ 12), he's shown greatly improved form this season.

Rest of 23 looks good to me.

Looks like won't be able to watch it on TV...............

Dean got injured last week, I think a head knock, so I am assuming not available. I agree he is playing really well. Difference from last season for me is in his decision making he was making the breaks last season but he was not always making the pass or kick through at the right time this season he looks alot more composed.

May get game on Italian channels Internet feed pretty certain the streamed some last season.

Still think Dean can play 12 though especially if Bennett is around, Dean's passing game is very good indeed and a good ball carrier too.

My team would be

15 Kinghorn 14 Hoyland 13 Dean (Rasolea if Dean injured) 12 Fruean 11 Harries 10 Weir 9 SHC 1 Rizzo 2 McInally 3 Berghan 4 Toolis 5 Gilchrist 6 Ritchie 7 Hardie 8 Bradbury

16 Ford 17 Marfo 18 McCallum 19 Hunter-Hill 20 Miller 21 Fowles 22 Baggott 23 Bryce

Seems a good game to rest Nel as Scotland protocols dictate and introduce some young lads.

3 wins in a row a couple of times last season. You could actually say this would be a 5th win in a row (excluding friendlies) - after Dragons & Glasgow (end of last season) then Cardiff & Dragons this season. Best run since starting the 2015/16 campaign with 4 victories, including wins over Leinster, Ospreys and Ulster - although that streak was brought to a crashing halt by those Italian titans, Zebre...

Had a quick look back as far as 2009/10 and Edinburgh haven't won 5 in a row at any time in that period as far as I can see.

Head coach Richard Cockerill has named his Edinburgh side for the Guinness PRO14 clash against Benetton Rugby at Myreside tomorrow night (Friday 15 September, kick-off 7.35pm).

As Edinburgh look to maintain their perfect start to the new-look Guinness PRO14, Cockerill’s selection sees six changes to the starting XV that beat Dragons last weekend.

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne is the only alteration in an otherwise unchanged backline. The 24-year-old scrum-half is replaced by Nathan Fowles, who has featured off the bench in the first two games of the season so far.

At hooker, Ross Ford replaces the injured Stuart McInally and will make his 178th appearance in the black and red. He will pack-down alongside Michele Rizzo and Simon Berghan – who rotates in for Scottish international WP Nel.

Anton Bresler is the only change to the second-row as he replaces Grant Gilchrist. The back-row sees two changes as John Hardie and Cornell du Preez come in for Hamish Watson and last weekend’s man-of-the-match, Jamie Ritchie.

On his selection, Cockerill said: “We know that Benetton are going to be a tough side to break down. We need to make sure that we are accurate and physical, and that we treat them with the respect they are due.

“It’s an important game for us - the guys that have come into the side are really good players and it’s great that we are able to use the depth of our squad. We hope the guys who have come in can create competition for places.

“It’s another important game for us that we’re desperate to win. We had great support from those that came to watch us against Dragons last weekend and hopefully it will be the same again tomorrow night at Myrseside.”

It's a real TonySpreadbury that this isn't on Alba. It confirms what someone wrote on the Guardian pages a few years ago. He seemed to know about BBC machinations and reckoned that BBC Scotland won't fork out for rugby, Alba only piggy backs on the other BBC regions' broadcasts

No Marty Banks and for Manu not to be included against his old club must mean he's crocked again

Some rotation there that was predicted up thread (Ritchie, McInally), some that wasn't (Gilchrist, Fowles), but no real surprises?

EDIT: McInally injured. I should read more closely in future...

Probably as big a pack as we could have selected. Alongside more of a facilitator scrum half suggests a tighter game plan.

Should have plenty to beat Treviso, hopefully we do. Sad if Manu is crocked again, but it also underlines we made a tough but correct decision.

Decent team which should win at home. Treviso look solid on paper but have been fairly weak so far, and their bench doesn't stand out.

Hoped we'd see one of the younger guys like McCallum/Carmichael/Miller on the bench. Need a few of them up to speed before the internationals come around.

Allan never strikes me as the most eager of defenders and it will be harder for them to cover him at 12 so hopefully with a game under his belt Fruean will be ready to take advantage!
