After Cockerills comments this week it will be interesting to see what team is sent out, who has been chopped and which fringe and younger players get a shot. Suspect we may see 7 or 8 changes from last weeks starting 15. I would like to see McCallum, Carmichael and Ritchie start.

Think we generally do ok against the Scarlets but I am not expecting much in terms of end result I do expect to see a big response in performance after last weeks SteveWalsh. Aggressive, physical for the whole 80mins.

Ritchie has to start. It was understandable he was rested for a game given the tough schedule coming but he needs to play.

Regardless of the team this is a fingers crossed and hope for the best game! Best watched from behind the settee. Who the f3ck knows what team will be fielded and which team will actually turn up? It will be interesting and informative to say the least.

doubt we will see as many changes. I think after his initial justified pop at the players, he calmed down a bit to saying some will get a chance and some won't this week. I suspect 5 maybe 6 at most changes to the 23. depending on where he wanted to make the mark he may not have that many options and despite what some seem to want he won't throw a team of kids on together.
Richie is a no brainer to start. Bradbury will start as captain. Leaves 2 slots between Watson, Hardie, DuPreez, Miller and either Fijian if fit. Of Watson, DuPreez and Hardie the one left out can maybe start looking for another job.

I see Toolis has been wheeled out this time to say yes they switch off, they always think it will be ok next time stuff, but they know they have to step up every game, harder to get motivated for eg Treviso. Just his turn but this jamesmatthew really annoys me, every player must know you must respect every opponent in pro rugby or you WILL come a cropper. Edinburgh players should know this better than anyone. And any that don't shown the door. This has been the culture for a decade almost - players thinking they are entitled to win by showing up, will get capped by Scotland anyway after a nice chat with the national coach.

Head Coach Richard Cockerill has named his Edinburgh side for tomorrow night's Guinness PRO14 clash against reigning champions Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets (Saturday 23 September, kick-off 7.35pm) - live on S4C.

The team selection includes seven changes to the starting XV which lost to Benetton Rugby last weekend. The only alteration to an otherwise unchanged back-three sees Tom Brown replace Damien Hoyland on the wing, as Blair Kinghorn and Jason Harries continue to impress in attack.

In the midfield, Robbie Fruean drops to the bench and is replaced by Phil Burleigh, who make his first appearance of the season. The New Zealand-born centre partners Chris Dean who has three tries to his name so far this season. Nathan Fowles and Duncan Weir will continue their half-back partnership.

In the front-row, Stuart McInally returns at hooker after missing last weekend's fixture due to injury. The 27-year-old will pack down alongside Michele Rizzo and WP Nel - who returns to the starting XV.

Recent centurion Grant Gilchrist rotates in for Anton Bresler at lock and will partner Ben Toolis.

In the back-row, captain Magnus Bradbury reverts back to number eight. The 22-year-old will feature alongside Hamish Watson and Jamie Ritchie - who returns to the side after being rested last weekend.

On his team selection, Cockerill said: "We know that Scarlets are going to be an incredibly tough side to break down defensively, but we've got confidence in this group of players. If we bring the correct levels of intensity and desire, there is no reason we can't stay in the battle and look to come away with a result.”

Before looking at the selected team, not sure about this one. Hardie may be chosen at openside to disrupt the Scarlets' infield, which he is a master at, rather than Watson as a ball-carrier. CdeP may be rested, as I don't think his conditioning is right yet, he's still carrying a lot of surplus weight for a mobile ball-carrying 8. There could be changes like these that have little to do with who played at full throttle for 80 mins last week or meticulously followed the game plan.

While I can understand the coach's frustration at what appears to be a lack of sustained drive or bucking the game plan by some, the danger is that any standard rotation or tactical change will now be seen as a public admonishment of anyone left out or dropped to the bench. Not sure how helpful this will be.

Was he injured over the summer? If not, and assuming it is not club/SRU driven to be at a certain weight, it is pretty inexcusable for him to appear to be carrying too much weight. I had been hoping he was just out of nick, but now I am not to sure.

They gave up a 14 point lead at home to Treviso, and couldn't score a try 5m out against 13 men. Players can't get dropped after that because it might look like public admonishment?

So no young fresh faces around the squad which is a shame. Wasn't expecting wholesale changes but not sure McCallum or Carmichael would be any drop off from what they'd replace. Pretty disheartening to see the same 4 half backs included too.

On the plus side, Dean will have a good test of his early season form v JD and the backrow battle is winnable. Tight 5 battle will be interesting too.

I made similar point earlier; having said what he did Cockerill has to make his mark this week (what happens later in terms of rotations is another matter and can, should be explained at the time for what they are -see Gilchrist/Bresler this week) or be seen as just another coach in a series of failures. The players never mind the fans will know his bark is worse than his bite and carries no real threat. Back to complacency

Scarlets starting team and bench suggests strongly that they want to have this wrapped up with the BP by 50/60minutes. Not sure they have a stronger starting fifteen
