Robbie Fruean

Sunday Times Scotland reporting that he’s going to retire due to ongoing heart problems. Sad for the guy, hoped he might have overcome them and got a few good years of rugby at the end of his career.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Shame that, he did quite well for us on his few appearances, but a retired life is better than no life.

Edinburgh took a risk, he took a risk, it did not work out.

As Pitfitter says, better to accept the reality, retire and hopefully have a good life than chase the dream and put that in jeopardy.

Does beg the question if a replacement will be sought.

have not seen it reported anywhere else, and I hope it isn't a journo jumping the gun of breaking a confidence as it really should be for the player to determine how and when to announce such a decision.
If true, then your response sum sit up for me.

As to a replacement, it was a one year contract anyway I think, so we'll see for next season. For this, Johnson will be here for the season and perhaps that is why he has been kept on as long

Would be gutted if this is confirmed. Lovely guy with fantastic experience that I was looking forward to influencing our midfield and improvement in our back line for a couple of seasons. Would be bizarre if Palmer risked his reputation with such a big article if he was not 100% on it however!
Bill Mata. The second coming?

I believe the Times and Mark Palmer in particular are the official newspaper partner of the SRU so can't see this not being true.
