Anyone else salivating at the prospect of watching that back row and back three tomorrow?
Bill Mata. The second coming?

9 Scott Steele, 10 Tommy Bell, 11 Ben Loader, 12 Johnny Williams, 13 Tom Fowlie, 14 Ben Ransom, 15 Greig Tonks

Replacements: 16 Tom Woolstencroft, 17 Harry Elrington, 18 Lovejoy Chawatama, 19 Josh Basham, 20 Mike Coman, 21 Ben Meehan, 22 Theo Brophy Clews, 23 Matt Williams

Surprisingly they've decided to put out a stronger team than the home game.

Would have wanted to see more experimentation before I saw the team Irish are putting out
McInally captains, amazing comeback from last season's form
Berghan seems to have joined the injury list
Fairly strong pack, but lots of mobility, really should be playing with a lot of pace especially with probably our most attacking back 3 out there to take advantage of it.

Definitely, the whole team looks good, an excellent tight five, Dean runs good lines at 13.

If we can get good quality ball to them that back three could wreak havoc.

I liked the look of the big South African laddie VDM on the wing though. We'll see him again

it is stronger and it is a surprise but its still some way short of their best side. relegation worries will be their priority.

Still a decent test, very pleased to see Graham start (he really had to after being pulled from the 7s) , if its fast and loose he will excel. Its an excellent piece of player management/development by Cockerill

Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Back 3 certainly looks very exciting will be interesting to see LI’s tactics their kicking will have to be very good as all 3 are likely to run it back with interest if given a little space.

An interesting time for Hoyland he has been on the fringes so far this season and out of contract at the end of it, Graham comes in with all the hype at present so a chance for Hoyland to remind Cockerill and fans what he can do.

Like the look of the pack, nice balance, pretty big yet still mobile.

Looking forward to the match

Is Van Der Merwe injured?

It is a very sharp looking back 3, if being critical there may be questions of their defence if there are strong runners coming at them. Interesting to see how Van Der Walt goes, he looked decent but the usual "how will he do on a cold night at Myrside" to borrow from football language.

Hoyland must have found the time very long since his last start.
Exciting back three and a lot at stake for Hoyland.
I would have played Mata at 6 and Brabury at 8. Interesting back-row though. I don't like to see Toolis and Gilchrist together but McKenzie had to be rested.
Berghan, Millar-Mills and Bryce out ? That's a lot.
I'm glad to see Kennedy back and to see Sam starting. It should be interesting in attack if the basics are alright.

Game still ok for Myreside? Bit chilly around here and likely to get colder too. Played golf last weekend and the ground was pretty frozen. I presume they are doing something to protect the pitch or will it be a last minute switch to the Morgue with its underground heating switched on?

Am I remembering wrong, or did Mata and du Preez swap around a bit against Kings?

The only real difference as to which back row plays where is at the scrum and perhaps who is tasked with carrying back kick offs. You might give the 7 a wider ranging role, but 6 and 8 play very similar games and Mata and Bradbury in particular are similar players.

It boils down to who handles the ball better off the base of the scrum and it's six and half dozen on that for me between those two.

I was wondering that myself. Unprotected ground where I am is pretty solid at the moment. I suppose it is a test for My reside going forward.

Edinburgh should win this handily. A 5 pointer here and next week will see the team grab pool 4 by the gonads. Anyone here think Embra can get a maximum 30/30 from the pool?
