Krasny Yar 2nd leg

Postby borderflanker on Tue Dec 12, 2017 8:37 pm

With the weather at present what likely hood that this game will be switched to BTM again, my fields are rock solid and with no obvious thaw imminent.
Those in Edinburgh what do you think ?

Raining at present a few degrees warmer than it has been and grass is softening up. Unless the temperature drops again I think Myreside may be back on.

On the team side Bennett was possibly to feature which would be a nice boost ahead of the 1872, think we may see some young lads in as well CHH maybe even Miller and Kennedy to start.

In Dunfermline and it's a bit above freezing and raining, local forecast is wet but warming so we could be back at Mside, better idea in a day or so.

Miller isn't registered so won't play. I'd like to see Shiel get his debut and some guys like Fenton run on. But Cockers won't take this easy as he's pointed out Krasny Yar have beaten Stade.

Cockerill said he would rotate the squad for this game. But of course, you can only rotate players that are in the euro squad. So I expect to see Kennedy and Shiel, Carmichael, Bresler, Hoyland, Bennett, Brown, Graham, Cochrane, Crosbie, Shields, K. Bryce... Probably Bradbury too. All those players that are not, for different reasons, the obvious starters.
Fenton doesn't seem to be in the squad.

My team for Glasgow would be:
Marfo - McInally - Berghan
McKenzie - Gilchrist
Ritchie - Du Preez - Watson
Hidalgo-Clyne - Van der Walt
Brown - Burleigh - Johnston - Fife
Kinghorn

So I expect against the russians :
Sutherland - Cochrane - McCallum
Bresler - Carmichael
Mata - Bradbury - Crosbie
Kennedy - Van Der Walt
Hoyland - Dean - Bennett - Van Der Merwe
Graham

To be honest, I don't know if the second back-line is not better than the first...

I can`t see Graham playing FB.
whilst the grass maybe thawing its the ground that is still frozen, bare areas and those in front of the stand which will get little or nor sunshine will still be area prone to be frozen unless sheets and blowers are used .

Assuming he's arrived back from Cape Town in one piece, I think we'll see Bryce at FB, with Darcy on the wing again, probably in place of VDM.

Suspect Mata will be involved in both games. He's still playing his way into the season, so should be getting as much game time as possible.

Going to be quite a change from the public park in Moscow where the first game took place. Great occasion for them, just hope we don't make it too enjoyable for them.

Then who with Bryce injured and Kinghorn to be rested ? (I'm not sure Bryce is out but it's a possibility).

Van der Walt can play at 15, I think. Would need Tovey to be fit and available to play at 10 for that to work though.

I guess playing on a frozen pitch was considered to much of an advantage for the Siberian team
