How many do we reckon at Murrayfield next week?

Looking at the website, I think there's about 15-16,000 sold, so over the next week, plus walkups, what do you think?

I'm going for 28,672.

Prize for the winner*

* no there's not

Saw something from Andy Nicol (yeah I know) that on the back of the success of the AIs and the two teams doing relatively well that the SRU should be aiming for 50,000 at the match but I can’t see that.

Timing of the game is a bit different this year i don’t recall the last time it was played before Christmas and I am not sure if that is good for numbers or not. Transport will certainly be better than on boxing day so may get more able to attend from that source but I think Saturday is also the day a lot of folk will travel for Christmas so may not be back in Scotland for the match unlike other years.

Would like to think Murrayfield would be half filled but think we will be under 30,000

Think the fact it's on before Christmas will have a significant impact on the attendance. Lots of people still have stuff to do leading up to Christmas, whereas on Boxing Day most people are looking for something to do. Not that it's representative of everyone, but my group was 8 last year but only 3 going this year.

On the other hand, anyone who goes away for Christmas is more likely to make it. This will be the first 1872 game I ever manage to get to.

And transport options are easier as well.

Will be interesting to see this attendance compared with the match in the summer if at murrayfield.

Have a suspicion the summer game will get higher crowds.

Do you know what the capacity of the East Stand is? I've seen different answers between 10,000 and 16,000 so wasn't sure...

Petrie said earlier this week that sales were 'on track' for a record crowd for the fixture, which would have to mean 24,000 or more. Think Tom English said a crowd of 'close to' 30,000 was expected, but suspect that may be pushing it.

East stand is about 12,500.

Add on 4-500 pitchside (or ‘in the bowl’ as they’re calling it), plus a quick look says another 11 sections in total pretty much sold out at around 600 a piece.

I thought the east was 10,700? Suppose it depends on how you alloacaute the corners.

Looking at the seats available I can't see this being a huge crowd. The South is hardly touched and the north less than a quarter full. Hopefully it will change dramatically today.

Hootsman article today saying that over 20,000 tickets sold so far with the previous record 23,500. Think they get a lot of walk ups for this fixture particularly if it's a decent day as everyone knows there will be no problem getting in. If the Scotsman's intel is correct, they must be hoping for 27-28k.

Cockers also quite vocal about the decider which he believes should be played in front of a packed out Myreside, and ergo in front of as many away fans as we will be in Scotstoun (which won't be very many). Brilliant stuff. He doesn't care who he rattles does he?

That’ll not happen as warriors st have access to 3rd game already I believe. But good wind up value. He’s had a lot to say this week
