It seems that Weir is not ready yet (theoffsideline). They say he would have been loaned for a short time to Worcester if he had been fit earlier.
Maybe Tovey will be back, or Graham will take place on the bench.
For the hooker spot, I have absolutly no guarantee on Cochrane's return. If he's not back, we'll discover a new hooker. Anyway, Fenton could start or have long spell on the field as he will probably start against Ulster.

Loaning our Weir would seem to be a very odd thing for us to do given we currently only have one fit 10 available.

Although given we are now down to the bare bones in the 2nd row the loaning of CHH and release of Bresler don't seem to have been great decisions.

PRO14 deadline is midday the day before the game (unless it's a Sunday when it's midday on the Friday).

Thanks

CHH would have been back to play had he not been injured. It was surely better that he got some game time than sat around in Edinburgh, that he was injured is just one of those things.

Decent side, surprised Cochrane and McCallum are available. Front row not as deprived as originally feared.

Christ on a Bike! 1,081 appearances across their team and in spite of a debutant in their back row, an average of 59 in the starting line up  . They have some depth and experience in their squad.

For comparison, if anyone cares, Edinburgh have 818 appearances and an average of 31 in the starting 15.

I suspect Burleigh and Johnstone are injured. robably Hoyland too as Bryce appears on the bench.
I didn't expect at all Kinghorn to be in the scotland 23, and less so Fife to fill the gap 15. Last time he played there (Munster away, two seasons ago if I'm not mistaken), he was decent. Does Cockerill want a tall full back to dissuade Leinster of any aerial testing ?
It's nice to have Bennett back. I quite like the look of that back line. Pack will have the key. Crosbie, Carmichael, Fenton and McCallum have a great opportunity to show what they're made of, under the tutelage of Mata, Ritchie and McKenzie.
The bench could add a lot and decide the turn of the game : Suzzy, Cochrane, Bradbury, Hardie, Sammy, Rasolea, Bryce, that's interesting.
I imagine Sammy will cover 10 if Van Der Walt has a problem...

Hope springs eternal, it seems ages since the last "home" game.

Loaning Weir out still makes no sense when we don't have proper backup in the squad.

Fife at FB ahead of Bryce and Graham is also interesting. We also could have had WDW as an option if we had a backup 10.

I think Weir deserves the chance to play with a decent backline and a team going forward, something he hasn't had since he arrived. WDW is decent but he does tend to crab with the ball and shut down space for the centres. That's getting fussy though as he has looked better than we have had for a long time, although caveated by the comments above.

Thanks. I was going to do that but then couldn't actually be bothered
