its a Cockerill quote you need, not a Rob Robertson one. HTH

Since you raise it tho, Robertson was talking rubbish on that occasion, I clearly explained why

We're so lucky to have you around to explain all this to us.

40 players of good quality, but no mention of how many SteveWalsh players...perhaps a window for Wicus Blaaw to return.

that's the article I also refer to. Look, folk need to try and put some throwaways in context. Surely it was obvious Edinburgh would not start or get by on a squad of 40 even if they were still rubbish. Glasgow went into the high 50s a couple of times because of the usual level of injuries and international call-ups. As Edin have improved and continue to do so has the number of players troubling Scotland squads has and will increase.

Cockerill isn't stupid, nor is he a liar, he was IMHO drawing a comparison to the squad under Solly when it was at one stage truly huge and full of mostly cheap useless squad fodder. Whether Barnes interpretation missed that or over zealous intake on here, it was never going to be 40 players, or around 40, which could be less. Never. And it didn't take a lot of common sense to understand that.

Still some can wheedle on about Cockerill telling porkies now, and a budget cut forcing a small squad. Whatever.

Perhaps RC thought that was the right number of players at that time, he has now changed his mind, or the circumstances have now changed for him, regardless no need to get hung about it at this stage?

Is any of this actually important?
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Perhaps and perhaps. Certainly true Cockerill had just arrived via Toulon where the make registered squad is 35.
Personally I've no hang ups about what the final number is. My point was and remains it was never going to be 40 which wasn't rocket science e to work out. And taking the '40', plus a throwaway about pro team budgets in a different context suddenly was declared a budget cut as a fact. When in fact there is no evidence to suggest that quite the opposite of anything.

Is anything on here important?

Maybe we should just let BS stand unchallenged.

Will it make any difference? Nope.

Two or three pages on an argument about whether someone said 40 or 45 is pushing things a bit though.

Some of the match threads got less posts and it was all conducted on the wrong thread really should have been under the 2018/19 squad chat. :)
