This is a must-win game, but Benetton will be coming to Edinburgh looking for the points themselves.

I like the look of our side, though I thought Dean played better closer in last season, he picked some really good running lines from 12 and it was his distribution that let him down a little at 13.

Benetton are a big and very physical side, we'll have to win the breakdown battle and win the gainline whilst not taking anything for granted if we are to get anything from this game, this is a serious match and I've got the right fear about it. It would be pretty disastrous for our season if we don't manage a win, how the team respond to that pressure will tell us a lot about where we are.

agree.
Pretty much as strong as Cockerill could put out, rightly so. (although I'd have McCallum ahead of Nel and another back three player on the bench instead of Socino or VDW if Socino can really play 10.

Benetton are a decent side. Almost a must win even so early in the season. Fail and confidence will struggle

Big match this. Really looking forward to it - a big tussle and we have a big side out. Bradbury, Watson and Mata is a powerful old back row!

Worried a bit about the backline as always - hopefully Pyrgos and Hickey can spark something.

Might have had Johnstone in the team rather than Dean, since he seems to add far more creative spark (unless he's injured, that is?). Mata being back could well be the key for us though.

As others have said, a very strong looking team for game that has "must win" written all over it.

Benetton Rugby: 15 Jayden Hayward, 14 Ratuva Tavuyara, 13 Tommaso Iannone, 12 Luca Morisi, 11 Luca Sperandio, 10 Tommaso Allan, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Robert Barbieri, 7 Marco Barbini, 6 Sebastian Negri, 5 Dean Budd (C), 4 Marco Fuser, 3 Marco Riccioni, 2 Luca Bigi, 1 Cherif Traore.

Substitutions: 16 Engjel Makelara, 17 Derrick Appiah, 18 Simone Ferrari, 19 Federico Ruzza, 20 Marco Lazzaroni, 21 Edoardo Gori, 22 Ian McKinley, 23 Ignacio Brex

No Monty Ioane on the wing for them which is good news for Edinburgh. One former player of yours in Derrick Appiah. Nasi Manu is injured otherwise it might have been two. The scrum half Duvenage has looked handy and helps run the show which takes the pressure off Allan a bit. Traore at LH is a beast in the loose but draws a lot of penalties - Nel really needs to show he has the upper hand there.

Appiah did well enough for Scottish last season as part of an underpowered pack, but I confess I was surprised to see him get an upgrade to a PRO14 contract. However, as he's Italian I guess there's a certain logic to it.

Wish him well ( against the non Scots teams :) ).

Thought that was Rambo injured for a few minutes, but it’s Fraser McKenzie. Didn’t look good.

Defence was a bit porous at times and attack a bit blunt. Got the win however.......just.
