Glasgow v Benetton is entertaining, not for the coaches perhaps, pretty frantic stuff.

McLean butchered what would have been a cracking try missing the grounding of the ball but not his forehead.

Ollie Smith has looked really sharp. Scored the only try with a nice finish.

Big Walter swatting players with ease in attack and stole the ball off someone running past him in defence.

Benetton look quite good for a scratch team, think they'd be doing better if it were a drier night - maybe a bit too wet for expansive rugby.

I had just been thinking the same-Glasgow had Munster and Benetton at home.we got Leinster and Munster away!
Ok,I appreciate we no doubt had an easier schedule earlier in the season but its caused a nine point swing to Glasgow in the table (and annoying that Edinburgh played a lot better on Friday night than Glasgow did last night yet got nothing out of it).
The joys of being a supporter!

This makes the delayed 1872 games even more interesting/vital deciders.

It's possible it gets taken down to a yellow on appeal?

Only the Irish could get that down to a yellow. We don't have that level of influence.

To everyone apart from the Irish :o , that is a straight red every time at the moment. Can't see him getting less than a 2-week ban.

Contact with the head area is minimum mid-range entry point and that's going to be 6 weeks. No real mitigations, but clear player remorse and otherwise unblemished character etc. = 2 weeks reduction, maybe 3 if he wears his best aftershave and takes chocolate biscuits with him.

I'd say three or four weeks, with four being the expected outcome. There was a Welsh U20 got a 3 week reduction last week though, so he might get lucky.

3 week ban. If that’s really a red the game is lost. :(

Sorry, don't see the controversy. Hand-off to the face, particularly at speed, has always been a red when penalised. When it has been penalised, of course.

Entry point for head contact is 6 weeks, so getting it down to 3 weeks for good disciplinary record and willingness to undergo the specialist coaching is good going.

If it had been a straight arm hand-off to the face which broke Lowe's nose and sent him head first to the ground it would have been perfectly legal.

I think that is the reason for the disagreement with that being worth a red and a ban, it was a clumsy attempt at a hand off during which minimum contact between face and the fleshy underside of the forearm occurred.

The tackler was going too high in the first place, there should be mitigation for that.

It also TonySpreadbury me off that this is penalised similarly to the punch in the face that Ritchie got v France, and a shoulder charge straight to Darge's head by a French lock flying into the ruck got completely ignored.

Yes yes, the letter of the law and all that, but it's not being applied consistently
