Hardie signs for Newcastle.

Could have waited until after we play them.

Great news, the best of luck to him, but I really hope he isn't playing against us

They can add up to another 3 players in the pool stages, but they must deregister the player he is replacing so I would imagine whoever their specialist no 7 is might get the heave from the squad to allow Hardies inclusion, but hopefully not,he was definitely one we could have held on to.

Surprised Hardie didn't return to NZ when things didn't seem to be working out with finding a new club. His back injury clearly being a problem for a number of clubs. Hope he does well at Newcastle and that hopefully he can master the art of tackling without his head and spend less time with the medical staff going forward.
Bill Mata. The second coming?

I presume he's still aiming to make the RWC squad, which would be harder (even impossible?) from NZ.

He's been doing brilliantly the last couple of months - starting and coming off the bench. I think he's finishing at Loughborough Uni this year. Could do with getting him back to replace Ford - would make up for losing Turner.

This. Seem to remember when he left it was partly to do with him valuing his education and Solly not being up for that. Him and Fenton competing behind McInally would be a great set of Hookers.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Found it!
I had trouble locating this thread, anyway Phil Burleigh kicks off his new career with the Sunwolves this weekend, he’s playing 12.

Rene Ranger is on the wing for them, I’d have loved to see Ranger play for Edinburgh

Glad it’s worked out for him but I think the key phrase in the article is “ I’m completely okay with the fact that I think I under-achieved“. He never impressed for me -it actually took me a moment to remember who he was, and I was a ST holder at that time. Seems happy in his new career and all the best to him.
