2019/20 Champions Cup qualifying

Postby liveinhope on Sun Dec 02, 2018 1:32 pm

After yesterday's results-despite Scarlets defeat at Glasgow narrow wins for Ulster and Benetton mean that we are now back down to fifth (and becoming detached from Scarlets and Ulster). Unless we win at least one of the festive fixtures against Glasgow we may leave ourselves too much to do for a top three place and have to battle Benetton for fourth.Even at that we are falling behind the points total for fourth in conference A so the best we can hope for might be an away fixture at Connaucht or Ospreys in may to play off for the final Champions Cup place-and I imagine home advantage in that fixture (as always) will be huge.
All a bit disheartening when we have looked so promising in Europe-and still all to play for there-and made the play-offs last season.

Do the winners qualify automatically for the next season? I reckon we should just do that!

Not sure it is quite so bleak yet but we have to start winning away from home...with the next away match the perfect time to do so :)

Remaining fixtures

22 Dec – Glasgow H
29 Dec – Glasgow A
5 Jan – Southern Kings H
26 Jan – Southern Kings A
15 Feb – Dragons H (6N)
23 Feb – Cardiff H (6N)
2 Mar – Benetton A (6N)
22 Mar – Leinster H
5 Apr – Scarlets A
12 Apr – Ulster H
26 Apr – Glasgow A

Assuming injuries ease a bit 2 home games during the 6N should be a good opportunity to pick up points before another tough finish, Ulster at home on 12 April could be another huge game.
