.minimum acceptable result.

Pyrgos not MoM for me, but the ignorance and inability to distinguish when playing to team orders is quite outstanding. Well played.

Nicol is a buffoon, end of. Cockerill has each 9 playing the same tactics - obvious surely?

All that mattered was the win and bonus point against a second string side.

I don't mind the low risk gameplan, Newcastle weren't going to win the forwards battle and they didn't have the guile in the backs.

Boring but sensible rugby that really sets us up.

I would like to see quicker 9 play and getting Graham and Kinghorn into the game but we have all season for that. We're in driving seat of this group now.

I thought Pyrgos did well. He played the conditions, kicked very well and he played a role in Watson and Dean´s tries.

The front row "tackle of the season" competition is pretty hot this year. Cherry's entry perhaps not quite up there with Berghan or Ford in terms of yards covered, but was every bit as important in not allowing Falcons back into the game.

Edit - after watching it again, I take it back about the amount of yards covered.

Yeah, I also thought he had a decent game too.

When he was at Glasgow I found the criticism he got from some sections of our support kind of bewildering too.

Anyway, great result for you guys. Think you have a very good chance of going through now.

First half we didn't really get going, probably due to the conditions and the fact that the team hadn't played together for some time. Whatever was said at half time worked a treat though, and we moved up several gears to totally dominate the second half. There was a noticeable increase in intensity, in the tackle, at the breakdown and in the way we actually chased the box kicks and won some possession from them. It was a really good second half performance by us, we just need to play with that intensity for the full game.

I thought Fowles did well when he came on, and his faster service helped us keep the pressure right on them. I was a bit disappointed that he hoofed the ball off the park to end the game when we were in a great attacking position, but I guess that was to avoid the chance of any further injuries.

Attendance 6803. Pretty good given the weather.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Can someone confirm that my eyes weren't decieving me.

Newcastle subbed their th and didn't go to uncontested scrums, he then came back on and packed down on the loosehead side? Seemed very odd to do that given th claims of only haveing one th?

They only had one prop replacement, if he was listed as LH/TH on the subs list, he could come on either side as a replacement. The guy who was playing TH at the start is primarily a loosehead.

Anyone found highlights that include Dean's try?

Unfortunately not, I have just watched some highlights on youtube and the last try reminded me of one of the reasons Duhan van der Merwe was so good last year, he was on the end of several lovely chips through from SH-C, van der Walt's kick through for Kinghorn to score was beautifully weighted and timed.

I'd like to see Pyrgos do these more

I'd accept the full game as well...

There was a bit near the end where after a scrum, I think Hamilton picked up the ball considering a tap and go. It looked to me like a Falcons player thought Hamilton was about to thump him, and made a hasty retreat. Would like to see what actually happened. Or did anyone else notice?

If our players are scaring the opposition that's a good thing
