No reason why we can’t go to Glasgow and win again. It was this time last season we started to pick up results and close what was a sizeable points gap to Ulster, similarly Glasgow started to lose a bit of form after a flying start to the season.
Think of the top 3 Scarlets look the most vulnerable this season but we just need to go out and win games. After Glasgow we have a decent run of games which
if we perform we are capable of winning including playing Benetton away during the 6N when they are likely to be weakened more than us with call ups. Hopefully, our longer term injuries start to clear up Scott, Barclay, McKenzie, Carmichael, Bennett, Bradbury, Hoyland or all good players who have featured little or not at all for us this season.
5 Jan – Southern Kings H
26 Jan – Southern Kings A
15 Feb – Dragons H (6N)
23 Feb – Cardiff H (6N)
2 Mar – Benetton A (6N)
Looking at this week, although the points are more important to us, the pressure will be on Glasgow to go out and perform after last week. I doubt we will make many changes, tactically we got it spot on if somewhat unspectacular and personnel wise unless enforced, Hamilton may not be available after failing his HIA, other than Berghan coming in I can’t see many changes.
Not sure Glasgow have the forwards available that will be able to make a significant difference in the forward contest, they are really missing Fraser Brown at set piece and breakdown, Darcy Rae looked a better option at TH but I think will struggle against Schoeman. Wilson to come in and bring a bit of leadership.
Would not be surprised to see a new midfield with McDowell or Dunbar at 12 to try and get them over the gain line and on the front foot against our defence. DTH looked in a fair bit of pain so may not feature which would probably mean Niko who always looks dangerous.
I thought watching on Saturday Glasgow were much like Scotland against Wales and SA in the AIs they did not change things up to make our defence think twice, try aside, I don’t recall any little chips over the top etc. Like Scotland, on front foot ball they have the potential to cut through anyone but both Glasgow and Scotland need to come up with Plan B when things aint quite so comfortable.
Us be less than 5…it is never too early for mulled wine!
