Really could do with Duhan coming back to form too, Darcy has been trying almost singlehandedly in recent weeks to be a game breaker.

Hopefully we will occasionally ship it out to his wing!

Fair point, but Darcy goes looking for work, Duhan could do that more...

With his physicality, the coaches should be screaming at him to stop coming off his wing and running down the 9/10/12 channels, not the other way round. He does need to get more involved. I still can't believe he went a full 80 mins the other week without touching the ball!!
Bill Mata. The second coming?

We're just not really a play-off/Champions Cup calibre team at present.

Yes, we can produce good results from time to time, and we're a good team on paper, but we're so infuriatingly inconsistent and incapable of playing for a full 80 mins. Even 50-60 mins seems beyond us at times.

Leadership, resolve, grit under pressure all lacking at critical moments this year. More Barclay next year should help with that but desperately need the likes of Ritchie, Crosbie, CHH, Graham, Shiel, Fenton, McCallum, Carmichael to develop those skills.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

I need to develop the skill to just not care so much, it's blimmin heart breaking to watch a performance like that - abject capitulation to an average team, again.

We are absolute pish tonight.

Too many of our senior players had poor games, but it is on Cockers and co as well, pyrgos had a mare his box kicking was LawrenceBryce rank tonight yet there was no plan B we just kept kicking possession to them.

I thought Ulster were meh at best and did not have to work that hard for a BP win because we were so utter SteveWalsh and accommodating.

Fordy perhaps shedding tears of joy at not having the endure another season of that SteveWalsh.

So the forwards didn’t generate great ball but Scott and Bennett did zero all night. All they did was pass to the poor wingers.
Showed if anything they are now second choice to Dean and Johnstone who at least give the forwards a target or create something with fast feet.
We would have been better with Ritchie and Barclay in the centres tonight then we would have had our best players all on the pitch.

Actually l thought Scott had the right idea to put kicks through, when they were up so quick in defence, unfortunately his execution, like most of our play, was SteveWalsh and made it look like it was the first time he had ever kicked a rugby ball.

Ulster were smart, they didnt commit to rucks and invited us create, they just fanned out and waited for us.

We played ridiculously deep in the first half, Scott was getting the ball 20yds behind the gain line and with no momentum.

We need to have more than smashing it up or a box kick.

Just a night when nothing went right. Only positive was Taylor looked decent.

Agree on Taylor thought Sheil looked sharp as well and his box kicks had a lot more height than pyrgos, not that competing for them was in the game plan, don't get why they have had so little opportunity.

Our limited game plan has been found wanting against the better more street wise teams.

Well beaten by a much better side on the night. Not much between the forwards, but their backs were streets ahead of ours. Van de Walt had a poor game when he was on, Scott was average, Darcy was shown up a couple of times and Bennett was frankly hopeless. His handling was dreadful, and he never looks like making a line break. He just doesn't perform like a professional rugby player, and I have my doubts that he'll ever make it back to the required standard, as he was much the same before his latest injury.

Agree with Dolf that our limited game plan got shown up against a good side. Thanks to the Benetton result we're not dead yet, but we have to win against Glasgow and are likely to need a bonus point to even finish fourth now. A very long shot, and will require a much, much better performance than tonight.
