Neither Scotrail nor Network Rail have confirmed or denied (AFAIK) but worth keeping an eye open for an announcement in the next couple of weeks.
Looks like This is the news you were talking about https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/233071.aspx, key part being:
Friday 27 December & Saturday 28 December
Major engineering work is taking place at Haymarket, closing most lines between Edinburgh and Haymarket.
Replacement buses will be in operation on the following routes:
Edinburgh and Linlithgow - (trains will run Linlithgow to Glasgow Queen Street)
Edinburgh and Falkirk Grahamston - (trains will run Falkirk Grahamston to Glasgow Queen Street)
Edinburgh and Dalgety Bay
Edinburgh and Haymarket
Edinburgh and Bathgate - (trains will run Bathgate to Helensburgh / Milngavie)
Edinburgh and West Calder - (trains will run West Calder to Glasgow Central)
A revised 'Fife Circle' service will operate between Perth / Dundee / Arbroath and Dalgety Bay.
Some of the first and last services will operate on routes between Edinburgh and Perth / Dundee / Arbroath, however, they will not run between Edinburgh and Haymarket.
Long distance trains between Edinburgh and Aberdeen / Inverness will also not run between Edinburgh and Haymarket.
Trains which run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Carstairs will be cancelled.
