Edinburgh Vs Kings

Postby Crichton Gunner on Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:41 am

I expect we'll see a large number of changes for this game, which makes sense. We have a good enough squad to do this and still field a strong side, with the likes of Berghan, Willemse, Carmichael, Bradbury, Crosbie, Haining, Shiel, Scott, and Hoyland likely to figure. Just hope we don't get complacent, as the Kings have some talented players. Should be a win for us though, and a good chance to get another 5 points in the bank.

This is the kind of game Edinburgh have to be looking for 5 points in if they have any pretensions of being up the sharp end of the season.

Any news on Barclay or Crosbie ? both been out for over 5 weeks now and it would be a great help if either both fit to ease the load on Ritchie/Watson before the Bordeaux trip.

Excited for this game - I wonder what the Scotland protocols are with Scott and Bennett and if they get a rest week. If not play those two who are on good form. Don't think they should get the rest either they can't be called core Scotland players right now.

I'd really he tempted to play Hickey at 10 and vdm at 15. I remember he had played 15 before he joined so would be good to see a second playmaker. He also has an eye for gap from 10 so I think we don't lose too much in an attacking sense. It'll likely be Sau, Hoyland 15 and Farndale though.

Also Shiel has to start this game. I get the Glasgow games playing Pyrgos and Groom but we can't afford Shirl's development to be stalled as neither are as good as Shiel could be.

Sheil definitely needs to get on, he will get experience against the likes of the Kings that will stand in good stead against better teams, confidence is also boosted by getting on the park.

I hope so, Wee Darcy is picking up a try of the month award in the bar before the game, according to the Twitter feed, so he almost certainly isn't playing.

That back three will be featuring during the 6N, so they need time together. I really like the look of Sau.

Certainly not taking the Kings lightly, 11 changes but still a really strong squad.

Good to see Crosbie and Barclay back available

Bhatti needs a big game, Scotland aren't overflowing with quality looseheads, Allan Dell has only started one game for 'Irish and has been carded twice in his total of six appearances. Gordie Reid is obviously at Ayr, after that...

Ulster just did us a huge favour by totally gubbing Munster, Scarlets beat Cardiff, which leaves the table as

1. Scarlets on 31 pts
2. Munster on 30 pts
3. Edinburgh on 29 pts (with Kings tomorrow)
4. Connacht on 25 pts (they play Leinster in Dublin)
5. Cardiff on 24 pts
6. Benetton on 23 pts (they play Glasgow)
7. Kings on 6pts

Whilst it would be doing us a favour for Glasgow to beat Benetton, they haven't selected a first choice side, and we can take a strong lead with a good win tomorrow.
We play a few of our immediate rivals throughout the 6N period so we need to get on the front foot.

Aye looked a decent Munster team on paper as well.

Huge opportunity for us today. The win and points are everything but would like to see zero complacency and an aggressive ruthless performance. Great chance to put ourselves in a strong position heading into the 6N.

Indeed, it was a very good performance from Glasgow.

We have to capitalise on that result and get a good one for ourselves now

Most results are benefiting us so far this weekend, Leinster giving Connacht a doing, 26-0 in 20 minutes so far, taking in hot coffee in preparation for a cold/damp evening at Murrayfield, here’s hoping the excitement will keep me warm later.

Pretty dire first half from us. We got a bit better once we got a bit of possession and started to build a few phases. We don't need to finish this game off in the opening five minutes of the second half, some patience and we'll get the bp win
